I used to connect in central servers and now I for some reason I connect to east servers. I’m from wisconsin so I am central and not east. I didn’t change my regions or location on the game setting or Xbox settings. Just wondering why this might have happened.
the matchmaking will automatically expand region parameters when you search for games. if it can’t find games fast enough in Central it will look to the next closest server.
this is why lots of EU players end up in NA servers. it’s a population issue.
But it’s not just in public matchmaking. When I am in a private custom game, I’m put into a east server (even if I’m by my self) and I know that because I am on 23-25 ping. When I’m used to be on central servers, I’m on a constant 1-2 ping. Im just confused by this why this happened
not sure why that would happen.
the servers are fluid in a way. the game has the ability to spin up servers as they need them so it’s possible this is connected in some way.
maybe it was quicker to use an East server that was active instead of spinning up a new Central. that would be a networking question only TC knows about.
I hear ya. I only like to play on central or east coast servers and constantly getting connected to west coast and Europe. @the-coalition the matchmaking is complete garbage.
Remember when Gears 5 first came out they raved about about the great new servers and “True MatchMaking” was going to be a lot better!
The matchmaking option was a waste of time. No matter if it’s set at low ping or faster matchmaking you still connect to the same servers. Plus that does not help you, because you still get high pingers because of their “preference” settings.
I’d say it’s pretty safe to say the coalition will never learn and haven’t since Gears 4. I’m not talking about the tuning because that is subjective. The net code, latency, frame drops and low pingers taking the hit all have been avoided since they came along. The net code was never going to be answered because Mjrdecision knew he was leaving and or the coalition has no answer for it.
