Feedback on ranking system and scoreboard

So after playing quite a bit now it’s become clearer to me what’s good about the new ranking system and what are the flaws.

I’ll start off by saying that the system as a whole is very good in the sense that it’s easy to follow your progress and it’s clear why you’re moving up or down in rank. Plus, because of the buy-in cost you are punished automatically for quitting. So I wouldn’t do anything about the “framework”.

However, there should be some adjustments. Especially concerning eliminations.
I usually see people saying that the upside of the current way GP is awarded for eliminations is that it encourages supporting your team mates and I understand that. But it also makes the rank less reliable because it implies that hitting a few Lancer bullets is as much work as dealing 90% damage. Combine this with the current GP limit for eliminations per match and you get a situation where often times slmost everyone on one team has the same amount of GP at the end of the match.
I think that needs to change. The system, imo, should reward players for eliminations and supporting separately. Like so:

  1. You down and kill an enemy = 2 GP
  2. Instakill = 2GP
  3. You kill an enemy who’s been downed by someone else = 2 GP
  4. Someone kills an enemy you’ve downed = 1 GP
  5. 1 GP awarded per 5 assists (these would be awarded at the end of the match. For example, if you had 15 assists you’d get 3 points).

*The reasoning behind 3 and 4 is that in scenario 3 you are getting a kill and in scenario 4 you’re practically assisting. And if you got only 1 GP for killing an enemy downed by someone else some players would just wait for the enemy to get up so that they could get 2 GP instead, possibly risking the round or game for their team.
Also, I suggested 1 GP per 5 assists instead of 1 GP for each assist because you’d otherwise end up getting GP way too easily. However, downing an enemy who then gets killed by someone else is an exception. For those you get 1 GP each.

Now, I think the scoreboard should display score instead of GP. You see your GP anyway in the right pop up whenever you gain more.
The reason for this is that I think mvp should be the player with the highest score, not highest GP, in the lobby because due to the limited GP per match a player who has 40 eliminations and 10 caps could be mvp alongside someone who has 70 eliminations and 10 caps. That’s why mvp should be determined by score and, imo, mvp should get a 10-20 GP bonus (whether they’re on the winning team or not).
Also, instead of eliminations it’d be clearer if the scoreboard had kills/assists instead.
However, “eliminations” would still remain as a rank “objective” (or whatever they should be called) and would be the combination of kills + assists from downing an enemy who then gets killed by someone else. Total assists would be separately rewarded at the end of the match the way I described earlier.

I also think that the limit for eliminations should be raised to 50 or 60. I do understand why there is a limit. Otherwise it’d be hard to find the right buy-in cost for match and you could rank up much easier on certain maps, like Allfathers arena, where players pretty much always get more eliminations. But 40 eliminations is not even hard to achieve tbh.

Of course if these adjustments were made the buy-in cost should be adjusted accordingly. But I can’t say specific amount off the top of my head.

I hope I was clear enough with my lengthy post

(Note that I wrote this KOTH in mind, so any numbers and points I made reflect that).
