[Feedback After Tech Test & Release] Gears 5 New Inverse Omen

I don’t think it’s needed design-wise at all. I think they just wanted to change something to change it. I feel like all the red blood splatter on screen and the sinking in on the sides every time you get hit is distracting and it closes off your field of vision to a tiny window. The same system has been working for 13 years and it’s what everyone is used to. It’s like imagine someone slowly smudging your glasses after a while and saying that it’s not a big deal. I beg to differ, (being a glasses wearer), it’s a major change and something that wasn’t needed in the first place.
It may look cool, but it’s not functional. They should at least give the option to toggle it off.

Yeah,

Keep the Omen if you want but allow the excessive UI to be off.

The Omen shows direction and fills up as you take damage.

It’s literally all I need.

Like the past 13 years.

Exactly! I just wish they would listen to feedback. It shows that since the omen stayed that they don’t listen at all. Not to mention all the bugs. I’m just saying, why fix what isn’t broken? I’m a firm believer in that. If something works, let it be.

I don’t see how TC could think this omen shows you from which direction you are getting shot at. If you are on the receiving end of a 85%er body shot, your entire screen explodes to a bright red (at least on my OLED screen) and you have no effing clue where your perpetrator is.

I am really disgusted that they ignore all of the feedback on this issue, especially since they promised to listen after people complained before the tech test and guess what, people are still complaining after the tech test and now after launch.

I think the design is made for the purpose of discouraging skilled players to push with the Gnasher. It fits within their vision of changing “the rifle meta”

They said it was because of precision weaponry, but to be perfectly honest I just think they wanted to change up for the sake of changing instead of keeping with something that worked and was iconic. Some change is good, but why f^ck with something that worked and wasn’t broken. The hud is a mess and I don’t see how it’s of any benefit. It was unneeded and I stand by that. If it’s not broken, let it be.

Well whatever their reasons for changing it, its beyond my comprehension.
I am getting owned in situations where in G4 I would normally survive the clutch easily, just because I can’t see a damn thing. I am hypersensitive and an explosion of red just messes with my concentration and orientation.

I hope they do something about it, because it’s really not fun playing with this Omen. Everytime it happens, its like all of hell has decended and covered my eyes with the blood of its victims

I understand exactly how you feel. It’s vision obscurring, overly excessive, and does nothing but cause a hinderance to gameplay. Instead of listening to feedback, they just said, “Well, too bad. Here’s the change.” It’s like, well f^ck me I guess. I’ve never liked a bunch of crap filling my screen.

Yeah,

It’s the fact that it’s so OTT and the weird tint it puts on the game when you take damage is just plain annoying …

I wasn’t askin them to fix it right away. All I wanted to know is have the responded to the issue. Just say like, hey we heard you. As soon as we fix some more vital things we will address this.

I just wanted to know if they have acknowledge that they heard us?

The last update we got was from Ryan in a video stating they need it for the health design and rifle meta.

And that you’ll love it.

That’s about it …

Huh? What? Nobody loves it! At least, my friends and I don’t…

Exactly…

Things like this is why gears will not become the franchise Xbox wants it to be, once again Xbox and their developers don’t listen to gamers, I’m not surprised Sony killed them this generation, it’s not hard but for some reason they want to try and prove they can be innovative but end up looking like out of touch fools, fixing what’s not broken, and trying to force a meta isn’t the way to go

It’s bad, like REALLY bad. I remember them saying the new omen was better because it would inflict less on player vision.

In fact , it’s the opposite. I can’t see anything, and it’s hard for me to gauge on how badly I’m hurt fast enough. I don’t see how they could have approved the new omen in house.

Did nobody question the idea? Because it’s terrible imo.

They were talking about the new Stim, and Ice damage that covers the edges of the screen being an issue, and that’s part of why they went with the new Omen. It’s pretty silly imo, I rather deal with that and have the regular omen.

Stim isn’t even in ranked, and how often are you dying to ice that it’s a big enough deal even? I agree with the majority, it should have been left alone.

Tried to leave a negative review and it would not let me. So done with gears. such a shame. been a fan from the start. hope the developers make a decent game one day. I miss the gears of old

I don’t think it was necessarily the concept that people were reacting to, it’s the sheer real estate it takes up on the screen. They simply need to dial down the effects a bit, maybe change opacity a little as well. Or perhaps some kind of option for this in the game even if limited. They’ll be aware of this thread.

There are people with sight issues apparently who have trouble with it, so I’d have thought something might be done.

You can literally just take the Omen itself and get rid of the rest.

At least have an option to do this.

Can somebody at least tweet TC and ask if they are aware that people don’t like this new Omen?

I need to know if they know and if so, why they are ignoring it.

They stated that they think it’s the best design and that was that.

They haven’t updated us since and I don’t expect anything tbh.

Ryan Cleven is set on his design it seems …
