[Feedback After Tech Test & Release] Gears 5 New Inverse Omen

Gears 4 is great besides the inconsistency. But I still think 5 will be better for numerous reasons. But only time will tell, and it wont be great if the fanbase doesnt show up.

It’s going to still turn out to be the way 4 is, my region won’t have players and strict matchmaking will strike again along with Crossplay.

I’m sure US region will be the same.

But yeah,

Guess those decisions are with Microsoft and TC.

Pretty much.

The only hope we have in the USA is that Mexico is deemed their own region. Their high fluctuations still have a major impact on the game and I’ve experienced it first hand.

Let’s hope they took it seriously.

The game plays completely different on local server and low pings compared to anything else, it’s a shame that’s not there soon after launch.

I mean, even in the tech test everyone’s pings where higher than 4 so something has changed there, at least in EU.

My ping generally stayed the same.

I’m guessing they removed the server from your basement.

My pings on the matchmaking module were the same as Gears 4 but i never connected to the East Coast server. Not even once.

You’ll be fine this time round.

Gears 5 is accessible to everyone with Game Pass/Ultimate on Xbox and PC. It’s also launching in Steam to capture an even larger audience for PC, providing TC don’t F it up with PC issues, like what happened in Gears 4.

Sigh The game has gone gold and the omen feedback thread ended with people going off-topic. Looks like Im playing campain on Normal and not much versus.

That doesn’t really mean anything impressive though.

We already knew the game was completed because we played a segment of the finished game during the technical test to make sure the servers could handle it. (not well)

The thread died down and we’re getting closer to launch without any feedback on a possible change, leaving me to believe that thee inverse omen is here to stay. Developers sometimes talk about changes they are going to make to the launch version of their game before going gold but never afterward so I don’t know how that wiki changes anything. I’m not hopeful for a day one patch.

It is sad that the game has gone gold which indicates to me that really there isn’t much for them to do but bug fixes and such. One would think they would communicate a little more then about something like this, even a simple “We are looking into it” thing.

Theres really nothing to look into. They changed the omen and when the first footage came out the outcry was there and they basically said this is why we did it and just wait until you tried it. They never said that there was any chance at changing it back if people didnt like it. Personally I like it a lot more than the old omen. And Im glad its here to stay

You’re saying they wont look into feedback? Wasnt that the point of them telling us to give it a try.

After trying it, there is still a lot of outcry about it and not just in this thread. The biggest point I am trying to say is that they claim to listen to the community but so far it’s more defensive than actual “we will look into a possible change or improvement.”

I’ve been thinking about this for awhile now and I have a possible idea that likely could be less troublesome to implement if consideration in a future update is being discussed internally… changing the color of the new omen and flashbang grenade…to… BLACK

The omen in it’s current state is a blinding red, Toning or muting it down via color… Gray/Black will still provide the same intended effect, but should be less epileptic than the glaring blast of red that momentarily causes people (myself included) to have to look away and adjust their eyes.

The same thing goes for the Flashbang grenade… instead of a physically blinding white light that gradually dissipates after time, how about a solid black screen that gradually lightens?

Black will be just as bad or worse. They need to tone it way down.
I find the idea of studios sticking to their vision admirable. I just wish their vision was like 343 and sprint, dumb but tolerable instead of just plan terrible and irredeemable.

Some how, I don’t think it will after 6-12 months,

But, for everyone else’s sake, I hope this is the case, I won’t be playing much 5 MP anyway, maybe once or twice a month to remember why I don’t like it

Agreed,

TC are sticking to what they think is best regardless, which is disappointing to say the least.

So judging from the emerging footage, it seems that they are keeping the Omen as is.

A shame to be honest considering the majority feedback is negative on the current implementation.

Did they even respond or address this topic? We deserve an explanation at minimal for them to disregard this issue

They have said that they feel it’s the best way to visualise health damage.

A lot of people disagree and I don’t know how anyone can think excessive and unnecessary UI is a good thing but there you go,

Bad design stays!

Ok so they think they have at long last solved the riddle “how do we inform players on the damage they take?”. This has plagued game developers for years.

Great that TC invented this new system that warns you of your imminent death by ensuring it altogether.

I cannot see anything with this! Please TC reverse it back!
