I agree,
It’s excessive for no reason.
The Inverse Omen itself is enough.
It shows direction.
It can build up too when your low on health.
You do not need the extra UI all around it.

I played a bit of gears 4 today and got to say, seemingly made no difference at all to me either way.
I played 4 a couple of times and it’s so much better!!
Just simple and easy.
No screen getting lit up for no apparent reason.
I understand there are those who aren’t bothered with the change, but just go through the feedback thread and see that most people think it sucks.
So if they tone it down or revert back, everybody wins. I don’t see a reason for TC to keep it as it is. Even those who are OK with it right now, would also be OK with the Omen being more transparent.
It’s annoying me so much that it’s not fixed. I mean the ice and stim version looks fine… Because you can see normal. But seriously with the red. It’s so obviously wrong. The blood and gore is dark red, the swarm is brownish darkgrey playing on a dark map with freaking screaming red all over the screen.
I also imagen people playing on bad tvs and screens.
Not calibrated at all.
Ha! I hope this is an option. If it is, good luck, my friend.
For years the Old Omen has also acted as a stand-in cursor for more accurate blind fire. Advantage, Old Gearheads.
Just to add an argument to tone it down: studies show we are evolutionary programmed to have a very significant response when we see the color red. So a bit of red draws your attention to notify you of danger in order to keep you on your tows. But an explosion of red in your face will cause an involuntary chaotic response (panick), which messes up your composure and hampers your ability to perform optimally. In other words: you just lose it.
For those interested, read the following scientific study:
Shows weakness. Only the strong survive.
I am sure evolutionary programming is meant to stimulate survival chances. But its ok to be butch, thats a survival mechanism as well.

I’d say you’d be more inclined to keep your distance from a giant killer machine if its eyes were red and you know that red light means trouble. Unless, of course, you had no choice but to face it or you’re half a maniac to want to face it.
As for this study above… I guess you could say that it is an evolutionary mechanism to know that red means danger, in certain cases. But I’d also be inclined to view yellow as a warning sign as well, but not, say, blue.
When im about to die my evolutionary response is to try to survive.
“The lesson lives within the question.” I know I’d prefer to keep my distance or get the hell away from whatever’s trying to kill me, if possible. Or just litter the area with traps and whatnot.
If they insist on the terrible vignetting ,the inverse omen size has to be increased . 90 percent red screen at any point while playing is unacceptable.
I finished off the guilded JD unlock because I started it before the tech test but after playing the game, Im holding off unlocking the other stuff because I cant imagine Gears 5 having that much longevity. I do not play games to be annoyed.
The exaggeration in this thread is on point. When you are 90% red you are 90% damaged which means you do one of two things. Find a way to recover or die. Recovery takes (3) seconds to almost zero red on the screen. If you have a 90% red screen all the time you are playing you need to spend a little more time in cover.
This right here
Where is the exaggeration in my post? I said 90 percent AT ANY POINT is unacceptable and you admitted that the screen does get that red at times. You can’t still say it’s exaggerating when it’s factual.
Obviously what people find unacceptable is subjective but it was extremely annoying in the Tech Test. I’m not saying that I speak for everyone.
