[Feedback After Tech Test & Release] Gears 5 New Inverse Omen

I don’t find it any faster tbh.

And you CAN get like that from a direct Gnasher shot that doesn’t gib or down you. Quite often.

Imagine 1v2 - the two have to hit you once or twice and your blinded.

I mean i honestly didnt have a problem whatsoever. Maybe its because im old, but i had trouble with the old omen keeping track of my damage.

Only complaint i have is the emote button i guess thats pushing in one of the sticks? Because that completely blinded me mid battle. Luckily it was only a split second.

Never had that issue myself.

What does “ Y “ do in 5?

Not sure? Dont think I tried it.

I keep pressing it for executions

Which have of course moved to B.

Yeah actually i did that once. I dont like kick and execution on the same button. I mostly kicked my opponents.

And melee is useless unless you put a solid shot into your opponent first.

Yeah, I shot someone and then melee’d them and it said 66% but two Melee’s down?

Maybe it varies depending on how well you sharpened your knife?

In arcade it opens the weapon purchase menu. Only got to play one ranked, so not sure there.

Honestly, now that I have gotten my hands on it, I don’t hate it as much as I expected I would. I believe its partially because of way the human eye works. When watching others play, the red boarders are obnoxious and distracting, however, when I am playing the my eyes are focused almost always an the small area inside the inverse omen. Almost (but not quite) making it better than the traditional omen.

With this considered, I do think this inverse omen should be toned down a bit, both for our playing experience, but also for Esports, as it just looks awful watching someone play with a big nearly opaque red screen.

Yeah, I was getting Gears of Duty: Judgment 2-pieced over and over.

It also had that Judgment feel by just running off of the edge of higher obstacles with no step-down or lag time between on Training grounds. i.e. on the spawn side perch that looks toward the central tower, you could run from the back side ramp, right up across the top, and over the side of the front facing ramp with ease. Doesn’t feel right for Gears.

I dont think i got two pieced once. Only tried it once not sure what the delay is between a shot and melee. I dont mind being able to run off the ledge there. I just spent most of my time gibbing everyone with the shotgun in KOTH. In Arcade i got most of my kills with Lancer headshots.

I get it. It gets REALLY hard to see once you get damaged and it can be hard to tell how much damage you can still take after you get shot because the screen gets really red. But part of me likes it like this. It SHOULD be more difficult to see if you have blood in your eyes. But after playing all weekend, I got used to it just like anything else. I’m assuming this is what TC was going for. They want to make it more difficult if you’re near death, that way if you do manage to fight your way out of it and kill the other guy, its that much more rewarding.

I think we should keep our complaints to stuff about bugs or really game breaking stuff. If we go all out demanding they change everything before the game even officially releases then we’ll never be happy because they’ll be making updates every week , aka fortnite, that just make the game worse.

Yeah Reef. It’s just you.

Lol. Although I do find it obnoxious, I’m pretty sure that within a week or so of 5 being out, no one will actually notice

After a week or so I’ll still notice. I played the Tech Test all 4 days (Friday thru Monday morning) and it still gets me each and every time.

It’s not too bad when I’m being Lancered from a long distance as I can then easily tell in which direction the fire is coming from. But in 99.9% of the cases, it’s a blinding full screen red that actually hurts my game and chances of survival as it actually stuns me pretty much senseless.

I hope they have a settings option to at least turn it off…

I love the reverse omen. To me its a major improvement, but it seems like there aren’t many of us lol.

Most people who’ve actually played are fine with it. You’re not in the minority.

So the post above that I wrote, to which I am replying to, was just merged into this topic. Upon reading the very first post in this thread it has just answered my hope that the omen would be able to be turned off… sadly it’s not. I hope that sometime down the road this option is once again looked into and perhaps implemented or the ability to drastically tone it down can occur.

I don’t know what it is with this new omen and me personally, perhaps it’s just me, but for years of previous game playing I have seen numerous warnings of seizures occurring from video games. For the record, I have never experienced a seizure in all my years of playing (they are plenty) and I am certainly not experiencing seizures with the omen in this game, but I am definitely experiencing something, What I would call a “holy ****” moment, that results in me just stopping and waiting a few seconds or so before I can regain awareness of my surroundings after being blinded by the red everywhere. As a result of having to stop in my tracks, my immediate death is imminent . Yeah, that’s a far cry from being a seizure… but I’m telling you its real.
