[Feedback After Tech Test & Release] Gears 5 New Inverse Omen

Well I’m for the “intrusive omen” but this effect will most certainly change gnasher battles. It’ll be slightly more difficult to see enemies when outnumbered or if the enemy tries to evade you and you’re full red and there’s action all over in game types with ring based objectives.

So yes. It will effect gnasher engagements. Also 6 shots in the barrel this time.

It would impact wall bouncers the most. I dont see it making a major impact on my style of gameplay. I still use Gnasher a lot but im more strategic. Im more about aim, angles and shot placement than speed. So in a situation where im that red im usually looking for cover anyways. Im not looking to take a 3 v 1.

Those situations are exactly what me and my friends can handle.

It’s how you “easily” win games.

Yup maybe they are trying to end that. Will be interesting. Im not at that level yet.

the community is going to roast them when the game launches for the stupid changes

Oh my god, beat by Star Wars?

I mean, this is Star Wars under EA. Probably the lowest and least trusted, least impressive showing of a Star Wars license we’ve had ever.

Or…or they could just keep it the way it has been throughout the series. Not sure if TC has heard the expression “If it aint broke, don’t fix it.”

I mean lets be honest; has their been a large amount of people complaining about the old/current omen? I’m guessing not and then that circles back to the question of why change?

After watching the dev stream I have changed my mind. It looks to impart helpful information and I am much more willing to work with it,

Why fix something that isn’t broken.

Just go back to the conventional Gears Omen…

I would even take a Health bar percentage at the bottom left of my screen like Battle Field over this chaotic mess.

So basically if you take damage then you’re blind as a bat.

@xDemonBrotherx

I just want to clarify,

The devs said it was because they have 3 systems working in that space and needed to visually show it somehow.

Plus, because if the rifle meta, I think Ryan mentioned they bloom and crosshairs needing a larger area due to recoil, they didn’t want the crosshairs to get blocked by the Omen.

Now, I can work with change but would have preferred a much less aggressive UI on top, bottom and sides. The omen itself looks ok.

Yeah, the main thing I want to make sure is that the Gnasher battles are still satisfying and that the red UI isn’t visual overload and you’re not blinded to the point where it becomes RNG of who gets the kill due to partially being able to see.

I’ll try and play smarter but still try and play in a way that’s fun and rewarding and hopefully this will be case come July!

I’ve got a little hope now that the insanely red covered screen doesn’t always appear (I’m still a bit :eyes: that it could happen though )

But, still,

Way more hyped about trying the game :raised_hands:

I agree 100% in fact I just put a post about how annoying that huge Gears symbol on the screen is. Players are going to get distracted by it and killed more often because of it. They will go from hey I am getting shot I need to take cover to wtf I cant see.

Please get rid of that giant Gears symbol on the screen when you are get ting shot it looks very distracting. Nobody wants to see a huge Gears symbol with red all around it when you are trying to shoot enemies or other players.:+1:

hey

Feels like this thread/topic has become the new “ranking system discussion” type thing, maybe it should have its own sticky , hehe…

Watching the game play from the recent dev stream, I saw the different flavors of the omen (freezing, hurt, etc), and I’m very curious to try it, to see how it works…

it’s definitely different, but come on… If someone says they will leave this game, with all the new stuff being put into Gears 5, because the damage indicator is different, then come on…

If they removed wall sliding and rolling, for example, yes, those are CORE components of gameplay… but the visual omen? Nah…

Hey, that’s my thought… YMMV…

Looking forward to trying the new game next month, for sure!

I think the concerns are having to alter playstyle more than anything, you can do the classic Gansher battles if you can’t see

But can only know for sure when we see Versus and try it out ourselves real soon :grimacing:

Good luck to you playing with all that red on the screen. I dont know about you but I never had a problem knowing I was getting shot at in the previous Gears games. This is coming from someone who has played Gears Of War since day one release of the first one. I dont mind some changes but that Gears symbol is annoying and distracting as hell.

I’m confused by the freezing omen because I’m not entirely sure if we will be taking frost damage during PvP and if we do how would that look exactly taking frost damage and bullet fire at the same time

This was shown in the Dev stream.

Frost damage is like ice blue UI.

Then health damage shows on top via red UI.

This new Omen is supposedly suppose to provide more information and make it easier to know whats going on but I’m already confused

I think now they need to make the symbol like a stencil like outline maybe or make it flashing but being opaque again but fading in and out, The entire screen being covered looks very tacky it doesn’t look finished anyway. I wonder if they will show what they are doing with it later?

They should make the screen go full red for the rest of the match after you get shot BUT where the omen outline is in now will be a link to the M$ store for a microtransaction to wipe the blood out of your eyes. $1.99 per use.
Also additional ammo for the match can be purchased for $3.99.

Call them BOHICA packs …or something catchy.
