Featured Hive - The Onslaught Guide

In this weeks featured hive you are challenged to face off against multiple enemies. However, I wanted to ensure victory for you all. There are a few ways to play this hive.

  • You can kill all the enemies and MAYBE escape
  • You can do this method and ensure victory.

There are a few things you’ll want to do

  1. Play on Master
  2. Be sure to Mark every enemy possible
  3. Have a squad mate run the 1 or 2 decently leveled score boost cards and pick up the COG tags
  4. Have an infiltrator running the “stim” setup
  5. Use the turrets to your advantage

The Onslaught is a two act hive. The first act is the “hardest” if you follow the method provided in the video. There are three sections in the first act of this hive where you’ll need to post up on turrets, mark enemies, and kill all the enemies as quickly as possible. Eventually you’ll have your chance at an Overkill or Gnasher depending on the enemy spawn. The Infiltrator will need to pick up the shotguns and all the ammo to setup for later on in the hive.

In Act 2, you’ll be sprinting to the end of the hive and having the Infiltrator kill the three claw drones and enemies further up towards the pad.

On the second turret part you specifically say there’s no cog tag in the room to the right and only ammo. Yet when you finish killing everyone and you’re taking off “Cog tag 3/3” pops up on your screen and it looks like your teammate is in that room.

The tag spawns are random and can be in any supply room.

That’s what I thought, which is why I’m bringing it up to him so he can edit his video. He wasn’t the one going for tags so may have thought they spawned in the same room every time.

Good catch. The majority of the runs I had they were in the same rooms, but as @AmicableWall421 stated it could be random. My apologies.

15 MINUTES?!

Have 1 person bring both scoreboost-cards and pick up cog tags, kill everything in ch1 and skip ch2. Boom, just saved everyone 15 minutes.

Yeah, that’s what I did. Ran 2 level 6 score boosts as infiltrator and ran past second half killing a few elite drones in the way. Got -68 minutes

I would like to point out that Infiltrator isn’t necessary requirement. This could lead to people hosting lobbies with stricter rules like having Infiltrator or kicked out. It might make it easier, but there are other classes that could make the hive easier such as Brawler, Nomad, Tactician, Marksman and so on. The rewards for the Weekly Hive was cards, so if someone wanted bonus cards on a certain class that isn’t Infiltrator, then you see what I mean.

Good for you brother. I’m not just giving some small information. I’m explaining how the Stim class works and why you’re doing what you’re doing in the hive. However, I’m glad we have someone like yourself in this community. You’re so thoughtful and helpful, we should follow you blindly.

First time around i managed this with randoms pretty easily as Lizzie, and we ran through 2nd part.

But this time the randoms seem to insist on fighting the second part. - If you are to fight the second part, where do you set up?

It’ll take more to get to me, Keep on being who you are a thoughtful outstanding voice in our community. I’ll look forward to your next post.

It’s one guide with a possible setup. @NEON_VEL0CITY found that this setup worked for him for this escape and he posted his guide for it. If you have another setup, post that setup and people will have options! I just don’t see why you have to dismiss this guide completely instead of offering your own setup and presenting it as an alternative!

This Hive can be done with alot of combinations of classes as long as there is a modicum of ability. It helps if at least one person is tanky so you can run through the end with less risk of getting downed. The 1st section is easy enough and you mostly rely on the turrets so no single class offers any buffs for this.

That said, a competent sniper (not the class, just someone with a Longshot who can land headshots) can clear enough of the Elite Drones at the end to make the run easy. I’ve done this with all kinds of classes - Marksman, Gunner, Combat Medic, Pilot… it’s a case of hitting active reloads, stop, snipe, move and reload, repeat.

Gunner and their ultimate canclear alot of Elite Drones at the end too. Brawler is another good shout.

In act 2, I would fight in the room to the left where you can funnel enemies. I found that useful if you’re able to kill them quickly. I know a tactician would be great due to the bleeding and resupply of explosive ammo.

This is exactly what I was talking about in my previous post. You’re providing a viable alternative instead of completely dismissing the original guide that was posted. This helps! Bashing doesn’t. Thank you for your response!

That said, the OP’s suggestion of Infiltrator is a very good method. Chaining shotgun kills gives lots of stim which is great and helps for a quick and aggressive push at the end.

I think all Hives have a set of optimal classes to use which is the strongest possible lineup, but many enable some flexibility and I think The Onslaught is definitely one of them. It’s even possible to run through the last bit, albeit a bit riskier (and definitely requires a tanky character).

I gave advice that alternative classes could be used, just like Bleeding Pepper had posted. I am not sure why you’re targeting me or calling me out as bashing.

Edit: I only highlighted one area of improvement. The whole guide was spot on. So no, I did not dismiss the entire guide.

Maybe I’m just more articulate?

Hi,

did this last nite on Inconvcieable. did not get the -15.00. on the second part its important to note that if your thrid person and you all do not get past those 3 claws you get trap and swam collapses on you.

Plus the stair way eats up a lot of time.

some player take off and activate the spawn before you get throught the door way.

Will watch this guide and then have a crack tomorrow. Thanks for doing these.
