Idk either, I’ll retry a couple of runs when I get home.
ok be sure to update me and perhaps time it as well. Perhaps I will time more as well as maybe I time’d it wrong, but pretty sure I didn’t.
I’m thinking what’s “important” is progression in the act, not necessarily tile count. You get all (or most) credit/xp for the first act by reaching the door on Surge.
If tile count, then I would imagine maps like Wanderer and Venom Run should be more efficient as you cover more ground and the resistance can be reliably managed. Whereas with Surge it’s reliable only for certain classes and luck of the draw for the defenseless.
Note that’s just my speculation at this point - haven’t tested it.
Could very well be, but the question then is how the progression is counted. The easiest way would be through the level tileset because no map has a linear path on the grid.
I got 10900xp with a level 18 Anchor in just over 15 minutes, so what Ektope says checks out and I got to the door about half the time (Inconceivable Surge solo). I hate the repetitiveness of this kind of grinding though, but I will try a couple of other maps to see what they produce. The Clock with rejects is a fairly easy run to the safe room with almost any class if you spot the enemies and dodge them. My suggestion would still be to do this during an xp event to not fry your brain, it’s no fun.
Edit: This is with boost.
No boost?
I agree. I think you really need at least one character who has defence buffs to reliably succeed on The Surge. I mean, it’s doable with 3 defensively weaker characters, but as you say it relies on some luck.
was with boost. was playing cole too and reaching the safe room everytime. so pretty confused on how people are getting these exp rates.
I got about 790 CXP when I’ve tried it and set foot into the decon-room-tile.
Ditto.
By progression I meant percentage to the safe room. For example in Surge it may award you 95-100% of the act 1 xp by reaching the steps of the safe room. But on a map such as Venom Run where it’s just 1 act, you could traverse more total tiles, but let’s say you only make it to 75-80% to the door, that scale would award you less xp, while also taking more time.
Is there even a decent frenzy or horde 1hr speed run now?
I haven’t seen a lobby for horde speed run since this update dropped. I was expecting to see overload speedruns with two Veterans, alternating ultimate with a Marksman, Demo and Eng. But seen nothing so far.
Overload runs can still be completed fairly quickly even if you have just one or even no Veteran. Done a few myself. They’re still fairly quick.
Cool, it’s pretty dead in the day UK time, must be why I barely got a game and not seeing them. I figured it must be because everyone is doing the new content, when it slows down a bit I might start seeing more speed runs to level up characters. I can’t face the surge anymore!
I understood what you meant. I’m just thinking about how the game would calculate it. So I redid The Surge with the extra tile triggers and The Clock with and without and they all amount to 792xp. So the act total is the same, just running, no kills. The Clock with rejects is much easier to arrive at the safe room door than The Surge, IMO.
Edit: Forever is still broken, so if people want easy xp with no enemies, you can do that with the broken spawns. It nets 640xp until the last open area and depending on the few enemies that do spawn there could also mean access to the safe room door.
Great info in here, kinda busy in the first half of this week but I will be grinding out XP for at least the Heroic Gnasher and Lancer and maybe even the Snub.
To do the Surge Speedrun you’ll want to be on insane difficulty. Below off top of my head are the mutators you need to enable.
- More Filler Enemies
- More Drones
- More Health
- More Pouncers
- Ironman
In my newer video https://youtu.be/d2adLMhVHug I go over why and how to beat the speedrun. For a more in depth written guide take a look at this. GearsIncite.Com
so do you open the door and run in, or run to the door , or do you click the button and end the game. i tried pressing the button and restarting, and running to the door and restarting.
Did it for 5 hours by now. Insane without more lethal and Ironman. Get to the tile with the switch but don’t use it. 720 CXP every time
interesting ideas with doing the clock on incon and waiting for rejects. wonder if its faster/safer to do than the surge? especially with characters with not many resistences? interesting -
Also @dannyjo22 - horde frenzy speeds might be dead because people already have a 5 stack group already made for leveling and/or people already max’d out the speedrun characters so no one is playing them so its annoying/fruestrating to make a group.
I was trying to host one before and no one joined for 20 minutes 2 days ago.
I agree that Horde Frenzy on Overload is dead. People probably don’t bother since Marcus got nerfed.
