Farewell to Escape or

I guess this is the end for Escape? No new maps at all going forward, right?
BUT - If TC doesn’t have new hives, then feature ■■■■■■■ COMMUNITY hives!!!

On a separate note - I laughed when I saw that the only change for Emile was renaming his Halo card.

Yeah it seems like they are killing escape off, which sucks. That and that you can now use duplicate classes is really really bad :frowning:

I think it’s just temporary guys

I’m jealous you had so many maps.

Escape was always cool. Much rather play escape than horde.

I’d be annoyed if they stopped too.

I’m sure it’s not the end.

not likely… the reasoning was they wanted to shift all the work into making more MP maps so that won’t change… I doubt they’ll even add Escape into Gears 6.

Well they are going the direction I was suggesting. Featuring daily challenges.

Maybe they’ll eventually decide to feature community hives, who knows.

Good stuff, time to move on…

I don’t see the problem, the games a year old. They have supported escape very well. How long did Epic continue to make content for beast or overrun? Unfortunately the only way games are going to continue getting support for years is a monthly fee or fortnite scenario, which today I think i’d prefer than new game and unlock all the same skins from the game before all the time.

What I don’t understand is that TC said they are listening to the fan base when making these decisions and I would assume Escape was popular seeing as they are making a Hivebusters dlc in December…

So, fans like the Escape characters but not the game mode? Difficult to say…

I guess they know the actual player numbers and we don’t. Has it become worth the extra Dev time compared to Horde and Versus? The users have been going mental for new versus maps, you can’t have everything. The game isn’t big enough to just employ more people.

Same with Horde I doubt we will ever get another moderate update now. It will be small tweaks until they walk away.

Considering what Op 5 brings for PvE, I’m not sure if I would consider it a bad thing or not.

What I do think of as a bad thing is TC deciding to completely cancel out Escape support for new hives. People can argue there is enough maps as is but when they’re all quickly repetitive with little replay value after running them 2-3 times, nobody will be playing Escape in a month or three except for skill grinding or the occasional solo run, or to try out other classes they haven’t played yet.

Maybe I’m too negative or pessimistic but that’s how I expect it to go. “New” old hives with different modifiers/mutators still aren’t gonna be very replayable. Likely to only do them if rewards are good and that’s it.

I agree with the community hives. If they’re very good, feature them.
I will say though, with the limited tile set we have now, they’re going to feel just as old after another season as the current ones. BUT, it would be more content for another season that everybody will have their eye on.
After that, we truly need the ability to make our own custom tiles for maps or, even better, have the full editor at our disposal on PC, if they are truly going to drop support.

How are daily challenges different from daily objectives we have now?

Escape was one of the best things about Gears 5.
It quite honestly boggles my mind how willing TC is to mess with success.
“Hollow Storm” - as they start hollowing out PVE
As big software companies buy up the little ones then who is left that respects their franchises and values their original player bases?

All I can say they will lose me and a bunch of other players. It’s not that I haven’t tried versus or horde. I did. Many times. But it’s not for me.
I was exclusively versus player in g4, onyx player. And when g5 dropped I was excited, until I tried the modes and they were bad except for escape.
And I know I’m not the only one who shares this opinion.
If you like Horde or versus, good for you and I’m happy you get what you asked for.

I like Horde but I didn’t ask them to nerf Clayton or Kait. I didn’t ask them to take it from 2 hours to 3 either. The Clayton nerf was actually by far one of the best examples of how they had a useless weapon that was good for nothing, and made it good to people who put in the time to build and then both betrayed those players and rescrewed the weapon. Who does that? It almost looks like they’re messing with us at this point.
The most important thing moving forward will be to pay attention to new games because if they’re made by TC or whatever TC renames to (they were called Black Tusk Studios) then you know how you will be treated if you like what they were handed; and my guess is that it will have been handed to them since how can they grow a game organically when their thought processes and priorities are closer to a rabid heroine addict than a electronic artist

Well, I’m hoping we can run all hives for time now at least. They also mentioned skill card drops and stuff like that so. Definitely better than the current daily crap we have now which is totally unbalanced.

I don’t think the Hivebuster DLC has much bearing on Escape. Campaign has different tunings to PVE so it will play differently. And I suspect the whole DLC will be more like campaign than Escape down to the mechanics etc.

The Hivebuster characters had no ingame canon introduction so I think that’s what motivated this.

I don’t think it will make old hives any more replayable or any less predictable. What point is there in playing, if it’s only done for rewards?

Escape fans: “I can’t wait to see what sort of hives we get in Op5!”
