Ezzzzzzz rather than gg?

I see this and worse all the time since the majority of my matches consist of Mexican players with 70+ ping (despite me living on the east coast!)

I’d hate to generalize, but I really don’t see even close to the same lack of sportsmanship among my own region, the rare times of day that I actually match with them. I would absolutely LOVE to be able to region lock myself. Please add it to the Matchmaking options: “Restrict to my region” or similar. It sucks seeing your screenchat full of a language you don’t speak and makes it borderline impossible to coordinate with your team.

I know some people will say: “oh but then they won’t be able to find any matches!” and frankly… that should be their problem, not mine. Sorry

Lol Mexicans are some of the finest gears players.

I actually am intimidated by the Mexican fan base the most because of how solid well rounded players they are.

Most of them are high levels.

Don’t be afraid of them… lol

You misunderstand:

I’m not afraid of them. Not at all. I’m afraid of their connections and spamming the chat with spanish. It ruins my experience. It’s not the players’ skill that is called into question, it’s the fact that the ping between us alone degrades match quality. They could be the best players around (i’ve played with several that were very solid) but it’s still not great because we can’t understand each other and the sponging rears its ugly head.

I’m in the EAST COAST UNITED STATES, there is a 1,973 mile distance between me and Mexico City. I should not be consistently matching up with them.

I guess.

I don’t see a problem with it. If the king is 130+ yeah it’s sponges.

Set your match making on low ping if you haven’t.

Different languages all over the world. Spanish is the #2 language besides English.

& Spanish players keep the game alive.

But ok.

They’re welcome to keep the game alive in Mexico; more power to them. But I don’t want to play them, and should have the option not to. As it stands I assume the game tries to fill lobbies above all else so it just grabs people from wherever. I wouldn’t mind 10 minute queue times if it means everyone in my lobby has good ping.

“Different languages all over the world. Spanish is the #2 language besides English.”

Yes but this is irrelevant since 91% of the American population speaks English. And I’m far enough away from Mexico that I should never see them unless I voluntarily turn off matchmaking restrictions. You’re trying to convince me that dealing with 70+ ping on a regular basis is fine, but I won’t be convinced dude.

Win or lose, I always say gg. I only rub a win in someone’s face if the other team is toxic and blame their team mates, especially if they are the one who got carried.

There is a way to set your options to “wait longer for better pings” vs “find match faster”. I don’t remember where, but I saw that when clicking around looking for something else. I might change mine too. I’m also east coast and have a ping of 1 in quickmatch, 20-30 in ranked, but match with a lot of higher pings, and a lot are spanish speaking, which makes me less likely to try to do any communication (not that I do much anyway). I also don’t know what they’re saying, although maybe that’s for the best with how negative people can be.

I’ve set it but it doesn’t seem to do anything. I still play against high pings/high fluctuation players which is a joke.

70 ping. Try 90-120 smfh

I dont think ping is so much of the issue as is the fluctuation. I have 70 to 80 ping sometimes but when I play on a wired connection, things are better for me and the other players. People are still using wifi instead of wired connections and that cripples the game.

I agree. But if the ping difference is huge I have some weird issues that I can’t quite figure out. If I have a 5ms ping and someone has a 100ms the game feels sloppy. It makes no sense but it definitely happens. Today I played 4 matches and 1 match I had a 35ms and it felt fine. The other 3 I had a 5ms and it felt really bad. I can’t put my finger on it but this is the only game I experience tons of delays with extremely low ping.

Edit: Every match had a player or two spiking. But the negative effect on my experience is greatly increased with the 5ms when compared to the 35ms. That’s what I don’t understand.

It seems like every match I’m in has at least one player fluctuating between 100 to 300 ping and they do not speak English. I dont understand the algorithms that pair up players but it needs to be worked on.

Being paired up with Mexicans sucks for me due to the ping difference. I guess being 4825 miles away from Mexico City doesn’t help.

Getting bagged on from the early halo days actually meant something, but like the “ez” thing, its lost it’s meaning & by the time halo 2/3/reach rolled around, ppl would bag on someone a teammate killed or they’d bag on an opponent after just one kill! There was nothing that deserved the bagging, it’d just happen. Then It lost its meaning.

So…unfortunately… bagging on someone has no real meaning anymore. I do it in games like halo, destiny, gears (usually older gears games… not too big on 5’s PvP) if someone keeps killing me or plays / continues to be cheap (camping blind spot corners with shotguns, etc) in how they play a game and I finally get the return kill. Then like clockwork, it angers them and prompts them to charge at me, which I see them coming a mile away & I keep bagging so they see me in their kill cam, which makes them rage even more, prompting them to continue blindly charging me with a shotty that I counter from a distance. It makes for a better k/d & get easier kills. If anything, I use it as a tool to throw an enemy off their game, but rarely do it if I’m playing normally anymore… cause it lost its meaning.

Don’t get me wrong, many are probably good player’s, but when most just walk around doing nothing special and just sponging shot after shot and get kills that’s what bothers me. It does seem like crap internet, south of the border players and internet Cafe players make matches run like crap. Unstable pings and low grade internet. I’ll give credit where credit is due but you can tell if you got killed by someone putting on the moves and out playing you or the jajajaja guy who just walks up and gibs.

Since when has gears ever had good sportsmanship lol.

I always say, “Gg”, whether I win or loose. I’ve had close games and blowouts and I still end with, “Gg”, even if I’m on the team getting blown out. I can be in first or last place but a good game is a good game.
