I’ve accepted they will keep moving away from individual skill and move towards team strategy. TC has that philosophy. I’m hoping gears 6 is made by a different vision. TC is a mess when it comes to pvp
I think personally they’ve tweaked the movement again to make it a little faster like you say. Played it the other day and it didn’t seem as slow.
Gow 1 & 2 did not have higher skill gaps. I could compete against pro players a lot easier in 1 & 2 than in 4 & 5. Standard of player might have increased during that time, but the ceiling for skill was 100% lower in the earlier games.
I don’t know even know what you get out of blatantly lying like this — GoW4/5 are the two lowest skill-gap GoWs by far. There are ranked kids comparable to lower-tier pro players, it’s absurd. Everyone is mostly equal at the highest level, it’s hard to tell whether I’m fighting Identivez or SillySniper123. What’s worse is that you claim you “could compete against pro players in 1& 2” when I’m not sure where you would be competing against them, and I’m even more sure you couldn’t name more than like 2 pro’s from that time period, and if you knew people from that time period then you’d know who I am and wouldn’t be lying to my face.
Edit: What’s even worse is that I went to your profile and it says you’ve had gold for 11 years, so the odds that you ever played against a Gow1 pro when Gow1 was the only game released is almost completely nil.
Blatantly lying, chill winston. Your reply is so aggressive.
Pros weren’t about a decade ago so yes it’s hard for me to compare but I played competitive on GOW1 and in my opinion, there is a higher ceiling for skill in Gears 4 & 5 as the movement system is more advanced.
I created a second account hence why my profile says 11 years but I’ve been playing Gears online since late 2008. I played Gears 1 a fair bit (probably more than you) so don’t try and discredit my opinion on the fact I’ve only had this account for 11 years.
Your reply is so aggressive.
Because I know you’re lying.

There were/are literally dozens of Gow1/2 pro players, you just don’t know any of them because you either didn’t play the games, or you didn’t compete in them.
I played competitive on GOW1
I’d be surprised if you even played gb.

Movement is just one aspect of the game, and although you’re pressing more buttons, doing more actions per minute, movement in Gow5 is the least skillful of all the movement based gows, (3, 4, J, 5). You’re not punished for mistakes, there are almost no delays and the fact of the matter is that there are hundreds of ranked kids who can move as well as, or better than certain pro players — whereas this was far less common in 3, J, and even 4. Movement has never been easier, so if you’re basing skillgap on movement, this is the least skilled of the movement-based GoWs.
However, as I said, that’s one aspect of the game — decision making is more skillful, hitting shots is more skillful, not making mistakes is an aspect of skill, and with the movement system being what it is in this game, you can get yourself out of mistakes with incredible ease and consistency.
Everyone at or near the top essentially has the same movement, they do the same shots, hit the same walls at the same speeds — what separates them is decision-making and gun skill, not movement, movement has almost completely plateaued in GoW.

If you’ve been playing gow since late 2008, then you’re outright admitting that you never competed against pro players in Gow1 — Gow2 was released in late 2008, pro players didn’t stick to Gow1, you weren’t competing against them, you were playing a dead game. This is literally like if you went and played Gow4 right now, then came back and told me you were playing against pros.
Also, the notion that you’ve played more than me is really funny considering you don’t seem to have played much of Gow1 or 2 at all.
Yes I played GB on Gears 1.
I agree with what you’ve said about decision making and when I say the movement system I mean the game’s mechanics in its entirety. I feel the ceiling for skill in Gears 5 is higher than Gears 1 - don’t shoot me, just my opinion. This possibly has been assisted by hardware and alternate control schemes that we didn’t have in Gears 1 (elite controllers, classic Alt etc).
I have my dates wrong and was actually playing Gears earlier, but in 2007 I was only a 13 YO kid and didn’t seriously play until 2008 in all fairness. Regardless, I played a hell of a lot of GOW 1 and preferred it to the ■■■■ show that is GOW 2 - as did a lot of players.
GOW 1 didn’t die and I couldn’t prove this with statistics but in comparison to Gears 5 & 4, I’m sure the player base was a lot healthier subsequent to GOW 2 release.
I know ranked isn’t an indication of skill, but it’s the only indication of playing time I can refer to. Fair play if you had more Warzone ranked kills than me.
This New tuning is worst tuning ever , and its all becouse some New commers complain that they dont know how to play Gears like they play call of duty .
Change moving and weapon changing speed back.
Closing as we have a main thread for recent posts on this topic.
