Don't add beta tunning

why wouldn’t it?
slowing things down allow for better understanding of the action and possible counters to both defense and offense strategies
Gears’ movement has no weight behind it, it’s just 8 pinballs jumping from cover to cover shooting at weird angles
there’s no clear distinction between actions, you see someone sliding into cover while shooting at you simultaneously, impossible to react

yes, both rxn shots and hyperbounces need some degree of practice to be pulled off but please don’t try to sell me bs about skills or any other yomi layer 3 metagame

if we’re concerned about new players which I’m not
we should also know they don’t understand why there’s a character moving forward while facing backwards which is the staple of any scrollwheel or paddle player
check the pic I’ve posted above, it’s from a developers’ post from awhile back
how can one understand why a shot has a perpendicular trajectory towards the gun’s barrel?

you won’t have delayed responses, you will have to stop moving to shoot just like managing the current gnasher recoil

I would love the option to toggle it on/off
judgment was so ahead of its time it’s astonishing how many features are being brought back in 5 and we’re all loving them

yes and no
Gears5 lacks identity and mission
but in their defense, the movement system and its gunplay is not an easy task to balance yet they’re taking their time testing stuff which is absolutely nonsense for a triple A game

The player who wants to break this game down like this is about a handful in numbers.

I’m not trying to break the game down like this. I just want to get to the hill or weapon and not take 5 minutes to get there.

It’s about time they decided to stick with something, but why they chose this specific tuning is beyond me.

Slowing the game speed down is a huge issue we took when Gears of War 2 released, and why so many people quit that game so quick. It felt like every square inch of the surface was made from quick sand. FFS roadie running was so slow you were better off spamming roll to traverse the map.

So why, oh why, does TC think slowing down the game to a crawl is going to make anyone happy? They’re taking notes from the game that is regarded for having the WORST movement in the entire ■■■■■■■ franchise.

After playing some of the beta I can see why the game has seemed so inconsistent in the past. You can see much more animations with it slowed down a bit and boy does that make your shots land different in the new tuning. The speed being so ramped up before made the gnasher shots more feel and timing based because the animations never seemed to line up. The slower movement to me makes the movement and position more visually accurate. To what I would expect. That said, not sure I enjoy the slow down. Giving me gears 2 launch vibes a bit but not sure if it’s because it’s actually that slow or I’m just used to the must faster movement of gears 4&5. Probably a bit of both.

well, everyone should keep in mind this tuning came off a guy that was a former competitive player

Yeah. But that’s not the case with the new tuning.

Really that slow huh?
Funny how the roadie run speed was only decrease by 4%.

You can make the argument that hyperbouncers got hurt the most. Nothing else really.

So no. It’s not the worst movement.

Somewhat disagree about delays here,
The delays in gears 5 are frustrating to because you cant practice - it feels like several actions that have a delay dont have a constant delay value i.e delay to shoot after wall cancel can literally change in seconds - sometimes it’s not noticable, other times you simply cannot shoot.

Same with roadie strafing, some times you can zig zag in and out around and around without issues - other times it takes so long to change direction while strafing the opponent can get a second shot off.

Delays can be good for balance and skill if they are a constant (then you could practice) - if playing a fighter and you commit to a HS at the wrong time, you absolutely should not be able to mash another button (assuming to cancel /resource usage) to protect yourself from your mistake.

The issue with reaction shots and such is you dont even get to see the startup animation - which turns the entire ordeal into a guessing game. As the need for guessing increases, the skill ceiling decreases.

Exactly gears 2 is the last game they should mimic multiplayer wise they should’ve just copy and pasted 4

Still worse than 3&4 this movement barely worked in 2008 it’s 2020 and tc is moving backwards

I think they need to to delay release and improve tuning if this is the last one… Don’t release it tc if people are complaining already… Common sense… Revise pls

They would’ve announced a revision by now they’re not even considering it they believe everyone is enjoying it as they told me in a Dev stream a few weeks back but the reality is there isn’t even that many people playing the tuning it’s not as popular as they think

They will add it because pros like it, dont matter how much the community complains. TC only cares about the tiny esports scene.

Toby Campbell pretty much said so on the official discord, that they “value pros feedback more” because of their “deep analysis of the game” compared to the rest of the players.

Im not getting into a conversation about “weight” lol utterly ridiculous comment from these devs and anyone else spitting it back up.

Its a delay.
A slowdown in general is one thing but not having my button imputs cause an instantly noticeable reaction is a FLAW and anyone making excuses for this is garbage and full of crap.

No other game do we want delays. What offer title do you press a button and then feel contempt to not get a response?
That is considered a FLAW any other time.

Again, want to make a speed adjustment…ok…even if i don’t agree, it logically makes sense.

Adding artificial delays to input is a no no.

We can’t even run right away and still have people rolling at the start of the match.

This is silly.
This is broken.
These are flaws and bad game design.

What are you on about? I never said Gears 5 had the worst movement, but that TC is apparently taking notes from the game that did.

I still remember the huge blowback when the community finally got their on hands on Gears of War 2 and realized how slow EPIC made the game to combat gnasher users. It was one of the reasons people quit that game then went back to GOW1. Also why the developers reverted the settings with GOW3.

The point is, TC for some reason, is deciding to go in that direction. Slow the game down, adding and increasing delays, pissing the community off… for what? Who asked for this? Some dudes in a eSports scene that has $10,000 prize pools?

Yeah, I don’t understand their decision making at all. They sped it up and now they are slowing it down.

I’m really just sick of the game changing every season. And I’m sick of TC. I hope a lot of them move on after this and we get a new vision taking over for a future gears.

TC slow the game down as much as needed to provide a consistent multiplayer experience.

It’s possible more people would come back than would leave if the game provided consistent experience.

how many other games let you not to commit to an action?
in gears you can input the slide to a wall, cancel and shoot resulting in an ugly situation in which one dies and there’s no gun pointed

the weight argument is there and will always be because this game is faster than it is animated. if you change direction, your character literally teleports with no frames in between

what?just hold your roadie at the start of the match
people roll out of spawn since gears 1 and there was anothe (maybe 2 or 3 can’t remember now) that before a patch allowed for faster speed if you kept rolling over and over

you typed pure BS.

Pure BS.

1st comment right off the back…FIGHTING GAMES CLEARLY ALLOW PLAYERS TO CANCEL OUT OF ACTIONS…YOU ARE WRONG.

2ND MY CHARACTER DOEES NOT TELEPORT WITHOUT FRMAES INBETWEEN…AGAIN PURE BS.

HOLDING ROADIE RUN AT THE START DOES NOT GET RID OF THE DELAY. IT IS CLEARLY THERE…AGAIN MORE BS.

STOP

I take you’re an angry kid, still I’ll reply to your silly statements.
I hope you have the knowledge to keep up with me

fighting games don’t work on magic.
you can cancel some moves after a set number of frames usually even the first active one that always comes after the startup frames

in gears, your character’s animations follow the speed/acceleration settings of the slide, have you ever seen someone hyperbouncing?

get better fingers maybe…just hold roadie at the start of the match and you won’t roll

I just roll at spawn out of habit lol. By playing PvP in the past entries, doing anything but rolling out of spawn feels… wierd.
