Does Anyone have an ACTUAL Problem with Kait?

I LIKE that #5 is about Kait’s journey, though I have to say Kait in Gears 4 was a bit of a bore. Mostly because she was a stereotype with no actual depth that made her different than any other “teen chick with an attitude” character we’ve seen in shows, movies, games, etc.
If they had established some unique things about her or her personality, I might really like her.
As-is, she seems really unoriginal.

Still, as I say, I like the direction 5 is going in. Kait might finally develop as a character.

Is she whiney though? Could you give some specific examples? Just cos I don’t get that sense from playing GOW4.

JD: "excuse me…?

My only thought, I’d rather be looking at a girl’s butt for ten hours than a guy’s, so Kait all the way.

The way in which I hope the story pans out is like Halo 2.

We get the inside track on the enemies with the Arbiters story arc but move along the Spartan front with Master Chief. No “change” in leads, just both sides of the same coin.

Gears 5 would look something like Kait playing the role of Arbiter. Getting the inside look at the Swarm and fighting through to uncover what the COG arent unearthing in their side of things.

Then at certain points it would switch back to JD on the COG front playing the role of Master Chief in my comparison. Inevitably battling Swarm and the DBeasts (coining that) while only getting more questions that Kait will be unearthing the answers to. All culminating at some head where both story’s intertwine in the final act.

This honestly seems like the most likely outcome to me.

I completely agree with everything you said! “Nice use of Womyn”

Whenever they have to take a detour from saving her mom she starts to complain. When they find the second hive her thought was to save her mom and gets agitated when Marcus tells her there’s another way. JD literally has to explain to her if they don’t warn people about the swarm they might die and she says everyone she care for is already dead. She’s willing to let thousands of people die just so she can accomplish her own selfish needs.

Kait is the best new character between the young trio.
JD is standard and déjà vu, Del is totally catastrophic.
Only Kait is cool… Great design, good emotion.

Good choice for Gears 5.

Moreover, if i could, i vote : the death for JD, the life for old Marcus…
JD is zero if you compare with his father.
I prefer to see an UNRAGED OLD MARCUS… more than CRYING STUPID JD !
Ha ha ha…

Aren’t those quite natural and human response to her situation?

I’ve never had the sense people generally are particularly logical, escially when under pressure. People are very reactionary and the cool headed logical ones are in a minority. Kait isn’t a trained COG soldier. She was born and raised Outsider. I figured her character made sense. I wouldn’t describe her as whiny. For me she seemed like the most human of the three new main characters.

I have no issue whatsoever, I just want a good engrossing story.

p.s. Should go back to 4 player drop in/out. Gears 4 (J and Aftermath) was epic in no small part to this.

p.p.s. Re the fact we are playing as a woman and not a “roided-out dude” again no issue, we all know the greatest COG of all is Sam Byrne.

Buster out, hang on that is your thing :wink:

I don’t care who the main character is as long as the story and gameplay is good.

Dude, not a good way to bring politics or profiling into a forum …I would rewrite what you wrote

JD had the same exact emotion along with Dom and Marcus in the other installments…it’s actually quite boring now to see that kind of emotion…they need to get rid of the oh feel sorry for me act…Starting to seem like an episode of Full House or Family Matters where there is a life lesson in every episode

I read an article a few months ago which covered the gaming demographic and he link between gaming, game developers and the far-right.

EDIT:

Like I said I found it interesting. And just to make it clear, the article doesn’t argue for or against the notion that gaming causes right wing beliefs in gamers, but it argues that the logic and pleasure of gaming serves the political right, which is a distinct detail.

I only play her sometimes when sniping in horde…She talks 2much trash, she wears a robber cap(extremely ugly) and on top of everything her short pony tail under that ugly cap it’s just wrong, but the worst about her it’s her garbage attitude towards Marcus, even though I’m not a fan of him.

nope. no problem with kate. interested in seeing what happens with the swarm/locust queen possibility. what started it all and how everyone ends up.
i liked the design of all the characters in the trailer, being able to look at them and imagine their story. gears 4 kept them all pretty standard or generic.
can understand why people might have a problem with hippster, talk to butterflies Kate though.

Of course I don’t. It’s treason to have a problem with the granddaughter of the Queen.

Also don’t worry about J.D. he clear still has importance in the story and will definitely not be ignored. Evident by:

  • His infected arm.

  • His personality in the trailer, being more commanding.

  • Anya’s death and what happened.

  • HE’S THE SON OF MARCUS FENIX!

Yes it is, but it’s still whiny.
Sometimes emotions get the better of you, but you got to know when to throw in the towel. JD was iniatily on Kait side, but when he saw the severity of the situation he understood that calling in for renforcements and warning the cog was more important
