I’d like all the old enemies to return but I recognize that it’s a lot of work, so just adding weapons and a few enemy tweaks could be a satisfactory compromise for me.
They could do a similar thing to the CLAW as their Swarm auto-pistol substitute with scrap metal, crystal spikes and a bursty fire rate. We really need a Kantus equivalent for the Swarm, GoW4 scions almost had it but now they don’t do that buffing roar in 5.
Maybe the scions could have a sort of transformation phase where they break the shield off their backs and protect their heads after being damaged enough, coupling that with a healer could be a deadly combo. Alternatively, DB Industries could mass produce the Guardian shields for infantry units which could explain how Mac can magic one out his ■■■■.
There was this picture around for a Swarm flamer that they just didn’t do I guess:
So yeah, I second everything you said about the Scorcher.
I’d really like to see the Breechshot return as the Swarm hunter’s weapon instead of the Markza since it’s more powerful and has that barbaric look to it. Plus I really don’t care for like 75% (give or take) of the enemy arsenal being human weapons. I suppose I agree with what @Outlaweditzz said about the Sawed-off being the elite grenadier’s weapon of choice with maybe some crystal blades for good measure. Something akin to this:
And for the love of the first minister give the grenadiers actual frags.
I forgot to mention the Booshka originally… They fired imulsion-filled grenades so leaving that one out would make sense if only the Torque Bow followed that logic as their bolts are imulsion-powered. (And I’m not saying remove the TB, absolutely not)! However, I recently came across something on the Gears of War Wiki, an attachment for the Retro Lancer that was called “Gut-Puncher”. It’s an under-barrel grenade launcher in place of the bayonet (and it’s different from GL Lancer because it’s an actual grenade launcher, not a mini-mortar). Attachments for loadout customization may be too CoD for Gears but I’m too giddy to not share it regardless.
I’m sure we’ll get a more refined enemy lineup in Gears 6 since that’s probably going to be when we get high-end guards for protecting the Queen, maybe even a new General made from Del’s body (I think Del dying is the canon choice anyway).
