Do you want to see old weapons return to multiplayer?

I guess no one played Judgment…

I want no “new” additions to Gears 5’s weapons at all. None whatsoever.

The reason is, as I’ve said before, that they can’t seem to get the base game working correctly never mind complicating it further.

Almost 14 years of history and they can’t even get the damn Gnasher right.

Not every weapon has to be added to MP, there are a few that are practically nonexistent (Claw, Cryo, Overkill, etc.)

I doubt like 80% of what people are asking for is ever going to be fixed, stuff like netcode or servers and some of those glitches will likely never leave Gears 5 sadly.

Considering server issues and those glitches we al know of take priority, then by that logic it’s more or less confirmed that previous weapons not present will never be added.

TC would probably be far better off focusing on bringing back stuff that fans having been crying over for years instead of fixing rare exploits/glitches that players can go hundreds of hours of playtime without experiencing.

Which one do you think would get more fans to go back and play Gears 5 again, if they were to bring back say the Scorcher (word on the street says this is a possibility) or if they were to fix some bugs? I know which one I would rather see is all I’ll say about that.

What we need is for the Gears multiplayer to go back to what it was in Gears 2/3 and not the crap fest we have had in the last 2 games.

Seriously a year on since launch and i still have no desire to play MP in Gears 5 since the BETA

There is a significant amount of loyal fans that would play even more if they would simply fix the server issues and have a working Gnasher.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Scorcher. The execution it had was beautiful and I’d welcome it back, but it’s important pales in comparison to the issues I’ve stated.

If only they’d actually listened to the feedback they got over Gears 4’s lifespan. We wouldn’t even need to have this discussion. I’d have the Digger back over that Dropshot any day.

If they don’t want to bring them back for multiplayer at least make scorcher and the HoD ultimates like the silverback

Just let me crisp people

I have an idea. Make a mode called Legacy, where you can play all game types with all of the old weapons. Pickup placements are randomized and so are the weapon spawns. For example, you could start the map and pickup a Gorgon the first time, and then have a Breechshot spawn in its place after the timer. Adds suspense, nostalgia, and unpredictability.

Which Gorgon?

Lol the burst one. Knew I should have specified.
Not only do I like the burst one better, but the Talon is already full auto so it would make sense to have the burst version for variety.

I dunno. I just think each weapon should be distinctly different to one another. Some weapons like the Breechshot seems to have alot in common with the Markza and Boltok. It was a cool weapon, but I’m not sure there’s a role for it anymore.

The Scorcher is a weapon I’d like to return. This seems to be different enough to existing weapons.

The Boom Shield and Booshka as well, seem to offer something unique and different.

I wish the mortar would return.

One cool thing would be classic maps as in a map from gears 2 would have the weapons it had in gears 2. A map from gears 3 would have the weapons it had in gears 3.

Almost all of it is either related to low population numbers (especially in remote regions) or netcode (which won’t ever be changed) so there is no “fixing” it.

The real problem is that TC are apparently perfectionists when it comes to Versus tuning, they just need to finally settle on what they want from the experience.

Those are basically the same weapons though, I’d rather they bring back weapons that offered something more unique or, in other words, different from what we have now.

That does little to explain why Gears 4 commonly runs a lot better with very little server issues.

I’d like to think they could stabilise the servers to the point in not seeing a packet loss symbol every single match. It’s unacceptable.

The problem is they don’t have a clue. They fix something and break another simultaneously. It’s quite a skill. Their recent Gnasher fixes looked very promising but with the lack of proper hit detection it makes very little difference.

Similar from a point of view but very different from another. It was merely a comment as I enjoyed using it, I’m aware there are other excellent weapons.

You could make the Hammerburst and Gorgon select fire so you can swap between fire modes.
Just a thought, maybe it’s too Call of Duty?

That’d be too difficult for TC. They’d have trouble simply balancing them with one fire mode to begin with.

They should definitely bring back a good chunk of them, the Scorcher is a big diversifier, the Breechshot (the Swarm were using them in Ascension after all), the Boomshield is literally on the backs of some scions… The Hammer of Dawn should absolutely be in the game by now, even if it was reliant on a fortification placement like in campaign.
I know the CLAW is basically made out of scrap metal so I can see the Gorgon being left out, the mortar would make JD’s ultimate obsolete, Ink grenades and the Digger are reliant on organisms that went extinct at the end of 3 so they won’t make a canonical return… They could introduce a different kind of toxic grenade since we have Venom now. I think a venom grenade is great idea.
I could see the original Markza, Sawed-Off and One-Shot going either way with a slight bias towards not happening.
(And I know I said that multiplayer mode don’t need to reflect the canon, but I’ve made my case for why they should be/shouldn’t be in there).
Don’t get me wrong if every single past weapon and then some were in Gears 6, I’d be ecstatic!

The most important weapons from the original trilogy were as follows: Scorcher, Gorgon, Boomshield, and Ink Grenades. The reason I consider these the most important weapons is because I have sort of a hidden agenda where I want to fight the original Locust again, those 4 weapons are absolute musts in my book because without them Kantus, Mauler, and Flame Grenadiers are all basically impossible.

Gorgon really isn’t that special of a weapon, they could probably just create a relic Talon and be done with it, Gorgon operated very similarly to Talon in Gears 3 so I don’t see much need to bring it back frankly.

Ink Grenades being replaced by a Venom grenade is a neat idea, but regardless Kantus wouldn’t feel like Kantus without something along those lines.

Boomshield is probably the most difficult to bring back not just becauuse it would be a balancing nightmare (Gears 2 days lul) but because Mauler takes a copious amount of time to program I suspect, without Boomshield Maulers aren’t really possible.

Scorcher is probably the easiest thing they could add, because death animations, flame icon and so on are all done, and creating a weapon that shoots flames isn’t too difficult really. Balancing would be easy because only 1 PvE character would likely have any cards associated with it (Cole Train) so not a very complex weapon to add in terms of meta. The cool thing about the Scorcher is they could even go further and say give you different flame effects (blue, green, etc.) depending on what skin you use, so it could be even more popular than it was in days of old.

Those 4 weapons are necessary if they ever want to do anything with original Locust either in Gears 5 or Gears 6, because without them they’d be shallow, so although the Digger or the Oneshot and etc. were all cool I feel that those weapons are the most important for the series.
