Disappointing truth of the locust

That would make sense as the kantus are very very different to drones, boomers etc.

I think I get what you’re saying now, and I kind of agree. Basically you’re wondering why is she actively fighting humanity again when her original goals have been realized (Locust survived, Lambency eradicated). To that I say that’s a good question and I hope it’s something deeper than just revenge because that’s pretty weak.

Cheers some of this is making more sense and some stuff is coming back to me! I like the idea that the Kantus have been underground for a long time and have their own religion/culture down there!

But her original goals were never achieved. The whole reason for Eday was because they were loosing against the Lambent. Adam Fenix was supposed to be working on something to help Myrrah and the Locust defeat the Lambent but it was taking too long which resulted in Eday

Fast Forward
She then killed everyone on Azura except Adam, she was forcing him to make the counter measure not affect the locust which he couldnt do in time

So after all that, losing to the lambent and humans she wants to destroy the humans so the Swarm can take over the planet which she thinks they have the right to the surface

Ha to be fair you can’t blame her when you look at it like that!

Heres an old post covering a lot of the questionable info

Thank you Sir!

But in the end she got exactly what she wanted. Yeah it didn’t happen in the way she wanted it to, but Adam (accidentally) still created a weapon that saved her people (Scions/Swarm) while killing the Lambent.

So my question, why couldn’t she just order them back underground now that the Lambency isn’t down there? If she believed her people had the right to the surface, why’d she even bother giving Adam the ultimatum, why not just invade the surface from day one?

Interesting take!

I think her goals for her people shifted as the Locust got more desperate.

I mean yes and no. Theres still so much we dont know. Did the counter measure kill of all the larger locust like Boomers/Maulers/beserkers ect? Because we havent seen any swarm that come close to the larger locust. All we know right now is the Scions are Locust drones

Because Adam convinced her that he could help her. It seems like he did this and she accepted because the locust were already at war and the humans just got out of one. Once she realized that Adam couldnt help she wanted to take over the surface and decided that the surface belongs to the Locust (i could be so wrong about this though lol)

She was also very Hiter-esc in her belief that Humans were inferior to Locust, as they fought one-another and the Locust never fought with each other. (Besides exceptions like beast Locust; Berserkers; and “political” disputes between Drones like Raam and Sraak).

She was raised by Niles research team and they all believed that the locust were the next step in human evolution. Plus some if the collectibles show her almost compassion for the locust. She of course calls them her "children " what do you do when humans kill off a bunch of your "children "?

As for the Brumaks I know they are genetically engineered. There’s a collectable in gears 2 where they talk about analyzing its DNA and they found strong traces to apes and pigs as well as others ( i don’t remember the specifics) and in the book “the slab” Adam Phoenix mentioned how the locust engineering is crude but their BIO engineering is well surpassed that of the humans. I’d guess kantus are also
bio engineered .

I don’t think that means engineered. I mean we are related to apes and bannanas.

Not sure if someone said this, but the Brumaks were genetically engineered apes

beat me to the punch

Well yeah but it doesn’t say that, it’s just inferred, or as I interpreted it anyways.

The swarm is different than lambency because lambency never had the ability to manipulate machines or digital code. My suspicion is that there is a human faction responsible for the swarm.

You’ve hit on one of the things I find underwhelming with the new lore. Down playing the lambent and myrrahs reasons for the war with humanity.
G5 seems to reduce her whole motivation down to ‘i hate humans’ and this makes her very 2-dimensional and lame. I mean I can understand how she might now have that attitude.
But as others have pointed out, the locust survived (in the form of the swarm) and the lambent are gone. Her whole motivation for wanting to take over the surface is literally gone. With no enemy to flee from underground, why wouldn’t she be happy to lead her people back there?

Just taken this quote out of the linked thread :
“We could have cooperated with the groundwalkers for our mutual salvation, but they are humans, and they only understand dominance and ownership. All that we have left is a war to the death. For all their so-called intelligence, humans are blind to the threat right before their eyes. We never stood a chance of enlisting their aid, so now we fight alone. And we will stand on their corpses to do so.”
She wanted help not war, hell war is why she despised groundwalkers.

She did let adam piss about for years and years coming up with a counter measure to the lambent though.
E-day happened when they hit the point that they couldn’t hold the lambent back any more and needed to flee the hollows.
If she really did just want to kill all humans, waiting until you are forced to flee your home seems like a bad time to start a war with humanity.

If hating humans is her new character then it’s really lame.
