Now, THAT is a a valid point, and I can see what you’re saying, and it’s unlikely beginners would play Escalation anyway, so where was no reason why this change couldn’t have been made in Escalation…
Anyhow, I’m not arguing between is this a right move or not, I’m arguing it’s an anti-beginner move, that’s all…
Hmmm, I play KOTH a lot and not sure how I feel about this, because they need to encourage people to “play the objective”. But the bottom line is the same, you have to win the match I think I will get used to it, but I think they could increase the points earned a little more though, that seems a bit too low.
I see some of the positive points some posters above made, interesting.
It just occurred to me:
Marking someone, from across the map, exposing yourself to no danger and requiring no skill gives you 30 points.
Breaking a defended ring, about the most dangerous thing in KOTH, requiring a lot of coordination with smoke cover and/or flash throw, frequently resulting in your dying, gives you… 10 points…
Yeah, that makes sense…
Hey, even if it results in a far fewer people capping and breaking, maybe it’ll result in more people marking, hahahah
This change makes absolutely zero sense.
So, you want people to "stop wasting their life trying to cap/break the objective, so you decrease the points for cap/break?
What?
I’m so over this game, dude. The only mode I play is Ranked KOTH and now they’re starting to screw with it and make unnecessary changes. Just pitiful.
No one: Hey! The points for caps and breaks are too high!!
TC: Hey we lowered the points for caps and breaks!
There are about a dozen items that are way higher on the priority list that need to be addressed in KOTH… spawns, re-spawn timer, hill locations, weapon placements, etc…
By lowering the points, it’s not going to change anything - people will still have to suicide break hills, people are still going to step in to get the cap, there will still be people who just look to get kills and don’t play the objective… now you’re basically getting punished for playing the objective. Now, you’ll have less team support if you need to push for a break, because people won’t think it’s worth it to die for 10 points lol. A cap is now worth +30??? Guess I’ll just sit back and spot enemies the whole game and get those +30’s all day baby.
TC - Please go away. Now, because you can’t figure out your own ranking system, you have to make point changes to what I would assume is your most popular ranked mode just so your ranking system will work, but, in return, will make the game mode worse.
I have been more than patient in dealing with the endless amount of bs in this game and have tried not to lash out at TC, only providing constructive criticisms in the past, but this change really bothers me in a direct way, as it will now affect my core game mode and, therefore, my experience every time I turn the game on.

Why yc why?
If the ranking system pretty much ignores breaks and caps, then well, its the ranking system thats broken not the points.
Capping and breaking ARE the most important parts of the objective game mode. Ya know playing the objective, they entire point of the mode.
At least this explains why the guy with bugger all caps mvp’d my last couple of games. He was probably rewarded with some nice rank points for making it a slog of a game and always being a man down pushing set ups. Because that really really helped us play for the win.
On a side note my average score is not far from where it was before the reset. Do we think average score has always ignored caps and breaks?
I get your point, but I am really failing to see how a player with a lot of caps and breaks “contributes less to the win than others” He is quite literally winning the game for your team by capping and preventing caps.
You could also argue that the guy with 100 elims and zero caps is not contributing as much as he thinks.
The game mode is based on the objective. Capturing the objective should be the most important thing in the mode, since that is literally how you win. Breaking the objective should be the second most important thing, as it stops the other team from winning.
The points were fine - it’s the ranking system that is broken… STILL.
It doesn’t really matter what we think. That’s what the ranking system thinks, so that’s what the points should reflect.
Anyone can cap/break the ring, but not everyone can get kills. And how do you expect to cap/break the hill if the enemy is still alive?
If the hill is clear and able to be capped, any bot on your team can get that cap. It says nothing about his skill.
Downs are worth more now?
Well OP says downs give 90. I’m not sure if that’s true though since I haven’t played. I haven’t heard anyone else say that…
Ah. Ok. Will have to go test that out.
Also, when the match is over, instead of declaring the winner to be whichever team held the ring for a count of 180, the winning team should be whichever team has the most Eliminations.
Thanks.
By that logic, the winner should instead be the team which had the most caps/breaks, which is NOT always the team that held the ring for a count of 180.
In fact, Eliminations let you hold the ring for longer, thus needing less caps to get more points.
One day you defend TC with all your heart and soul. The next, you trash them. You’re prolly the type of guy that takes his anger out on his puppy and beats it for no reason.
Dude…consider yourself trolled lmfao
I call it down the middle. I give TC credit for making the best GOW since 2006, but I’ll trash them when they mess up. I’m the most objective voice around here.
I object to your objectiveness
That’s purely subjective.
touché
Tested it myself and it’s still 50. Will amend my comment.
