I’ve played Gears since the original. Played KOTH today for the first time since the points changed. It was awful. For one thing, my friends no longer play becuase of the ranking issues and now the KOTH points change. We rarely played anything but KOTH, but TC has killed KOTH. Today’s match had the MVPs of both teams with only 2 caps. The match took forever. If your objective is the same in KOTH as TDM, you are not fulfilling the objective. RIP KOTH. I’m done with Gears 5.

No jabs at the OP but rather TC made changes that didn’t need to spark such a debate in the first place.
Here we have an example of me outplaying the other team, including the “MVP” but I ended up losing rank for my efforts?
This is all just a knee jerk reaction to fix their broken ranking system. The only people that like these changes are Gnasher players that never use the Lancer to support their team/play the objective. It’s basically allowed TDM players to copy & paste their skills into KOTH and thrive. No nuance, no methodology just ignore the objective and kill your way to top.
Just make single round 230 points and problem fixed. In case we have a leaver ok “NP” at least we have to wait 10 minutes and deal with that. On the actual KoTH u need wait 2 full rounds with a leaver or a troll
That looks like an error you have most everything and you don’t have most points odd. Just finished a game and a guy with 30 eliminations didn’t have one cap or break. I called him out and he quit as we were losing. It’s just tdm guys now inflating their kd ratios. No value in a break or cap. And breaks should be worth the most because it’s basically suicide. it delays their score and gives chance for turn over an it’s worth 10 laughable points. I’m done with koth and pretty much the game itself…
Bumping this as it needs to be addressed.
Points for capture and break combined are less than a single kill. 
Because the change to eliminations is confusing. For instance you can get an elimination for 30 points of damage or an elimination for a headshot kill which is worth approx. 215 pts. The other thing is deaths also count toward rank and aren’t included on the scoreboard. To be honest they should go back to kills. I liked the change at first but now people think eliminations are equal to kills, and think stealing kills is okay, but the game still counts kills as greater than eliminations.
Kills should be shown as eliminations can easily be calculated by anybody with just adding kills and downs.
This way the information about kills is missing completely but still counts.
The 30/10 point thing is the most ridiculous thing that hapoened to the game yet

How funny ain’t it when the person getting most caps /breaks ain’t the king of the hill?
Why even lower the cap points? Why not increasing the break points? Toilet Bloodspray and the turdmark on the changes of koth!

Gears 4 is now the place to play ‘classic’ KOTH. As if we didnt need ANOTHER reason to go back 
…but something aint right with the servers (in Gears 4)… over half an hour to find a game sometimes during peak hours. TC, you been fiddlin with the servers/matchmakin ain’t ya?? Wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest
+1up to this thread. Bring 300p back to KOTH so winners are those that are capturing the ring. It is absurd to give 30p to the main goal of the mode.
@Ankho yep. Preaching to the choir. Most people play KOTH now to farm kills and elims to rank up to their prescious titles like onyx and diamond. They don’t give 2 ■■■■■ about the objective. Dude told me the other night he played 8 matches and had 0 breaks or caps. And even got MVP. Another guy played w/masters players who were “killing machines” that camped at spawn and. Corners, never played the objective, and offered little support when he tried to.
Me, I still play the objectives. I don’t care about my k/d. Im mot a master level player anyway. I like the objective. I love competing. It does get very annoying when you are trying to break or cap and their isn’t another teammate in sight. Im probably gonna try starting custom matches for players that want to play the objective…that is probably the way to do it. You can even add.fun substitutions like the boltok instead of the snub. Or claw if you prefer that to the Lancer. Or overkill instead of gnasher. Add me if you want. Ill play some objective based koth with you. Peace
Lots and lots of positives lately. The gnasher feels really good performance wise. Lots of really good changes made to the ranking system. But the 1 negative that has to be changed…KOTH needs a change to scoring badly. KOTH is not team deathmatch. Their ia no way that the incentive to perform should be heavily weighted on kills or kills to deaths in this game. I am really sick of playing where its me and 1 other guy doing all the dirty work when it comes to breaking. The other dudes will jump in at the last minute for a cap, but by god they aren’t gonna take the chance on dying breaking a ring. Im so tired of dudes on my team having 100 plus elims and 0 breaks. This is an objective based game. The point is controlling or taking back an objective. Not how many people you killed. I had a match that I actually. Just lost 2-1 after the other team had a player quit after the 2nd match. We lost the 3rd one b/c the other team played as a team. They broke. They capped. All togethor. 1 guy on my team I swear to god had a sniper rifle I his hand like 50% of the final match. All he did was Lancer from the edges and snipe people and tried to avoid dying. I had 15 breaks at the end of the match…him 0…0…0…Their should at least be something that penalizes players for not contributing at all to 1 aspect of the objective…if you have a 0 in either breaking or capping their should be a heavy penalty. Enough is enough. Its becoming un-fun. And KOTH is one of the best modes in Gears. Please…again. Not team death match. Not how many guys did you eliminate. Not get the best k/d. Its King Of The Hill.

The incentive is winning the match and getting rank. I do think the points shouldn’t be as low as they are but also not as high as they were. It led to players that would do nothing but sit in the hill bit not actually contributing to the defense of the hill. I’ve had players call me trash and what not because they were In first yet had the least kills. Meanwhile I’m straight smackin down anyone who tries to touch the hill and I have the most kills but I don’t get as rewarded as they guy who sat there. I just don’t think you should get heavily rewarded for doing almost nothing. Of course that’s not everyone but there’s a good amount of those people. Another thing it would lead to is the entire team getting hill hungry for points so no one would take up actual defense positions and the hill gets overrun easily.
As an aside TC did speak about the points on a recent stream and they are trying to find a middle ground between the current points awarded and what it was previously (1000%).
This is the exact reason why I quit playing KOTD. Just couldn’t handle that constantly being the bench mark.
I still play KOTH and still prioritise the ring with captures and breaks. Due to the changes I am often near the foot of the team scorecard albeit with most captures a good amount of time!
I usually “pull my weight” with kills, although I’m more a support player than slayer…hence my desire to play an objective game mode.
TC didn’t need to mess with Hill at all. Why try and fix things that do not need fixing ?
As we all know there are far more pressing priorities.
