Diamond is the new onyx tier

I mean, gears 5 was a flop for multiplayer imo

But tbh I’d say GoW4 was more skillful

What the OP hasn’t noticed is that Gears 4 and Gears 5 have gone through the same learning curve for the changes and so have we. This is, I’ll underperform on the beginning (gold) and then rank up to the final of the second year (top diamond) in both games; because of the tuning/ping. At the beginning, players with lower ping will win—this is broken still—but they will manage to impact less users over time with the matchmaking by balancing teams/pings when losing popularity.

Ranking system way too easy. I find it harder to get points in a stack in comparison to playing solo. I’m on 155k points on KOTH and whilst I think I’m decent at the game, I’m not amongst some of the elites I play against. Masters is the new Onyx 1, seriously.

Maybe if there was a hybrid of the current system keep it like it is with no limit of player up to onyx 1 or something, and then use the gears 4 point system to get into higher ranks with a limited/capped number of slots for especially for diamond/master for the best players/teams.

This would weed out most of the average players by the time you get to onyx and with a capped diamond/master populations most of the decent/above average players would stay in onyx, which would likely push your average player to gold or below. This would also keep the highest ranks highly competitive.

eh idk about tht. Getting Diamond5 in gears4 for was a crazy grind. Having to win every match, out perform every match, playing against the most sweaty of players, etc. I got it in guardian without a squad of 5, man it was insane. Even d4 in tdm and koth was crazy too. But masters in gears 5 is way too easy. its better to solo que with the 15% boost

I’m one of those complainers because I hardly ever play in a stack. I’m an OK player, D1, but I worked to get it. I play with masters and am best as a team player in that situation. I call out and assist for the most part. I get my share of solo kills but I don’t pretend that I am that level of a player. When I play diamond and lower I MVP or number two. I hate playing stacks because my team NEVER uses any teamwork! A simple mark goes a long way. Or there is some idiot practicing his wallbounce instead of in the action. It’s just frustrating as hell.

Yeah G4 and 5 in my solo queuing experience, marking is so helpful to get the dub . Yet rarely do I get teammates who do it.

I mark EVERYBODY.

Yea I agree, I myself have the master rank for king of the hill, and tdm, both I got playing solo, just for comparison I only managed diamond 1 in gears 4

that’s actually THE problem, you should not be able to stay within a rank due to massive points loss for a poor performance
then they decided to change the poor scoring system from the previous OP hoping to mitigate problems that are still matchmaking related

as for the score system:
solo bonus - losing team mvp bonus - performance caps
all this jazz carries people outside their natural rank whereas they should both gain or lose less points after actual matches

basic math suggests it’s almost a completely free ride until onyx and possibly diamond

The entire rank system is a free ride to Diamond and Masters isn’t much harder it takes away the challenge and fun of the rank system.

Purposely deranked to G3 just to troll diamond players.

system still punishes solo top players on bad teams too much; can lose a whole rank from bad matchmaking in one match

i just think a lot of the best players have left

ranking system isn’t fun, it’s frustrating, should be deleted

sometimes you have a bronze outperforming a master… people automatically assume masters are pro players… you can go from onyx to master and back to onyx in five games, it’s a really silly system

nice. I like that idea.

the algorithm rank system is a pure joke…

i was D3 with 59 890 GP yesterday…
now im D2 with 54370 GP …

This game doesnt want me to be master…
fk this ■■■■ algorithm

I’d be curious to know what % of players are in each rank. I know in Gears 4 roughly the top 5% of players were in Diamond 1-4 and 1% were Diamond 5. I highly doubt that’s what those numbers look like now.

What was the easiest and hardest playlist for you to hit Masters in?

I’m Masters in KOH as a solo. At first Diamond was hard but I ended up getting through it kind of fast to my surprise.

Currently Onyx 2 in FFA and that feels harder honestly. To be fair I don’t play FFA a ton and I think KOH is also my best playlist.
