Demo in Horde: powerful, but boring to plsy

Totally agree with your points, If I’m running a hard map I don’t like playing without a demo, especially if I’m putting the effort into a 50 wave, but I don’t like that person to have to be me. In fact I often plead not to be that person and would rather find another game.

I wouldn’t mind so much but I tell people I have the spotter card and to mark and they agree and never do. It’s bloody irritating when a wave is lost when it could be a cake walk. I am not a boomshot fan and I just don’t like the 3 shot boom. Not a fan of this Demo class at all and doubt I will play him again.

Also don’t care for constantly tossing out grenades, so don’t use that build.

Most notable from your post ‘frack’ fellow Battlestar fan I’m hoping!

Demo has only been nerfed in spirit, you can still deal about 10 million damage in a 1-50, class is always going to be OP lol.

Oh I know I was referencing the ammo nerf it got. Even with that its the same amount of damage just less ammo but my various gods its really really really really boring lol

You guys need to stop complaining about classes being too strong, that’s why TC keeps nerfing and then it’s no fun using the characters that they nerf.

demo is broken as hell still. literally makes horde a stomp. 1 man army. veteran clears wave easily as well, but can struggle to clear some bosses such as a carrier or swarmak (can kill the front blisters but not rly the back).

How to play Demo :

Have a 2 lockers, 6 boomshots and 2 for gls (for a swarmak/matriarch wave).

Spam active boomshots and mark 1-2-3 targets and use your ult to speed clear.

Repeat

Pretty zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz broken.

I leveled up Demolitions to level 15 long ago and stopped right there. Didn’t bother to play as JD/Demolitions in Horde or Escape ever since.

Playing as this class is pretty boring…
Due to limited ammo, you need to have two weapon lockers and have Boomshots/Salvo/Gl’s stored…
Running back and forth to your weapon locker when your gun runs out of ammo is not fun.

These are honestly better alternatives to this class.
Tactician has become even more fun to use with the OP5 update.

I was going to say this, since the update Tactician class is becoming my new fav, the ammo regen perk now regenerates GL grenades so you don’t need a weapon locker.

You don’t really need two lockers. I tend to use 3/4 boomshots and 1 gl in 1 locker. That’s enough for me because ammo regen also helps.

Only use gl in boss/mini boss waves ONLY.

But end of the day, it’s personal preference. Whatever suits you the best.

Out of curiosity, on what diff level do you play him like that?

I’ve used JD on master difficulty with Custom Lancer GL and bought one to use, but never actually used it. It was just on my back the whole time. I ended up using the Boom, Drop and Salvo all of the time. I didn’t have a grenade build thoug - was feeling lazy so couldn’t be bothered to run around planting them!

I play exclusively master. Both regular and frenzy. Sure the class does not dominate like it used to but I see it as an opportunity for all the team to contribute and be more even.

Ive found mark 1 at a time go into cover then peak out and mark again. Works every time like that no problem. U can mark 5 pretty fast like that.

Is good that Demolitions is boring so nobody will gonna play with It and nobody will ask for nerfs so they’ll finally leave it alone.

The problem with demo is the way the bleed works. It stacks on guys meaning if you hit multiple guys with a explosive the bleed will stack on one guy for all the guys it hit so it makes it’s very strong. This is what they need to address and maybe the way you can get your ultimate back very quickly by just doing a lot of damage. This is a problem for all classes and especially the assault ones. Other then that Demo is great

So you wan’t the game to be very easy on the hardest difficulty then because the game isn’t challenging really like it should be at the hardest difficulty.

This is why you play the demolitions with a tactician. It’s a amazing combo and fun too. Also to help out with capacity just be more reserved with your shots and only use them when you really need to. Also you can pick up the ammo crates at the end of waves which gives you ammo back or even use the ammo regen perk at max level. That will fill up 1 gl grenade and 1 boomshot per minute. It’s slow but it worth noting that it refills them as well as regular ammo. My friend plays demolitions all the time and even with the nerfs he thinks the class is extremely strong. The old demolitions was defiantly extremely OP though having like 8 shots in your boomshot and GL as well as way more Bleed damage. That crap was busted

Honestly the class despite all the nerfs is still extremly strong and has plenty of firepower to dominate games with ease. It’s easily a top 3 class

I just think that the shift toward Demolitions being a grenadier kind of build was a wrong step. Several other characters/classes have grenade pouch cards so to me it feels like this approach to play is too similar. I guess Keegan/Tactician already covers that style of class so I think JD/Demolitions could have retained proficiency with explosive launcers (including launcher capacity).

Maybe what TC should have done was not to have given JD/Demolitions both the Custom Boomshot and the Custom Lancer GL cards? Maybe JD could have had the GL one; and the Boomshot could have gone to someone else like Keegan?

Tactician absolutely doesn’t need a custom boomshot, that would push him over the edge and he’s not really meant to be a primary damage dealer. The problem is if you give the demolitions lots of capacity people will just be spamming gl’s and boomshots for days and people hate that as well as it’s just very annoying as well as OP as hell. Maybe they should just give demo some new skill cards that aren’t overpowered as hell.

Could exempt the Lancer GL from the Launcher Capacity card so only the Boom, Drop and Torque get the benefit? Or increase the reload time for GL’s when using a Weapon Locker? And should have kept the GL so that Keegan’s Ammo Resupply doesn’t replenish the GL.

Fact is some classes which have an ammo capacity perk can end up being able to hold more explosive launcher ammo than Demolitions, which just seems really odd to me. I was playing as Fahz recently and was helping JACK to gather weapons to smelt and picked up a Boom and realised that Fahz had 6 rounds in it. Just seems jarring that the Marksman can hold more explosive ammo than the Demolitions.

Another idea which may seem radical is to restrict the Razor Hail card to perfect active reloads. But that might be a step too far the wrong way.

EDIT:
For the record I thought JD was in a good place during Op 4. He needed to be rebalanced because his damage output was ridiculous from launch and he’s been gradually nerfed to the point I think he was in a good place. Then changes in Op 5 just didn’t seem that necessary. Other characters were strengthened too.
