Dedicated feedback thread on the new ranking system

I haven’t seen a general feedback thread for the new ranking system. Given the fact that the whole point of the pre-season is collecting feedback, it would be nice to condense most of it in a single discussion.

First of all, yes, the system is crystal-clear, but some things related to match performance need to be looked at.

The performance cap on KOTH is way too low. In a longer match (3 rounds) a player with 40 Elim, some caps and a few breaks gets more GP than a guy with twice as much eliminations, same number of caps and a single less break. This is not okay, the second player has contributed much more.

As it is now, the system encourages ticking off a list of diverse tasks instead rewarding actual contribution. Once you reach the cap for eliminations or captures the value your performance simply stops being recognized in any shape or form.

I understand that the point of a cap is to avoid intentional kill farming etc., but it should be based around numbers that MVPs achieve when a match reaches its maximum duration. For example, in a 3 rounds KOTH match, the top scorers can often reach 75-80 eliminations and 10-15 caps (even more in some matches, but that’s beyond my point). I’d say that that’s a much more reasonable upper limit.

Another important issue is actual contribution to an elimination. The fact that any amount of damage gives a flat amount of GP is just laughable, I’m sorry but it really is. Am I missing something here? Can we please make GP gain based on damage done upon death of a target?

Also, MVP should be based on match score, not GP score, period. Rank growth is something personal, it’s a direct consequence of match performance, not the opposite.

Feel free to contribute.

Fix the actives. Different style actives for different guns is no good when it’s a DRASTIC difference. Everyone knows the Boltok and certain guns are different…keep it traditional guys some of us are 2006 veterans. Also don’t make 100 percent individualized in rank. Nit whether your teammates win or lose. Give better tour of duty rewards if all the good stuff is easy to buy now. And so on!!

I love the clarity of it. Huge improvement over what we had in that regard. I just think it needs some tweaks in the KOTH playlist.

In regards to KOTH, elims need to be replaced with kills. I don’t agree that everyone should end up with the same amount of GP by the end of the game.

And I want the scoreboard changed back to the way it used to be.

I agree the original scoring needs to be on the leaderboards in place of GP as you can see your GP in the top right of the screen and after the match ends anyway.

Also GP isn’t very accurate in determining who the true MVP of the game is. I had a game with 134 eliminations and the next highest elimination player on my team had 89. However because he had 2 more breaks than me he had 85 GP and I had 83 GP despite having nearly 50 more eliminations.

The GP elimination cap is far too low which creates the illusion of lower skilled players equalling players who are slayers. Also the original score shown in place of GP on the scoreboard factored in a lot more and the gap between lower and higher skilled players was more evident.

For example I had another game where I had 92 Eliminations and I had a teammate at the bottom who only had 24 Eliminations at the end of the match. But he only received 39 less GB than me despite the fact I had to hard carry the team. This GB system kind of blurs the lines between really good players and average/poor players.

I feel like TC have also done it this way so no player stands out as the reason you lost, while also trying to be as clear as possible. But while I like a lot of aspects about this new ranking system, it needs to be much more fine tuned depending on the game type you’re playing and players who truly perform well and carry the team should be rewarded greater.

That’s just my opinion of what I’ve played so far. Once the damn servers start working properly I’ll try to see if things change higher up in the ranks.
