Yeah, the runs I see on YouTube seem to show the easy spawns. Also, in all the topics covering this hive, they never mention that it’s possible you can get a boatload of mulchers. I almost started to fear I was the only one getting these spawns and the game was screwing with me.
Managed to get through this hive today on Master as my Veteran because I wanted the XP for him as he’s only 18. It was certainly a bigger challenge than in the past since I normally do it with Tactician or Gunner. The first act we ended up running through it and the Brawler took down the single Mulcher that spawned. The trouble was with act 2. The Brawler kept using his ult, then wondering why he couldn’t tank anything and was going down repeatedly. The other guy was an Anchor, who wouldn’t let me get any ammo boxes, nor oblige me by taking my Claw and filling it up with ammo when I dropped it in front of him in saferoom. They then blamed me for getting hardly any kills. These guys would knife me in the saferoom after each fail. I was expecting the kick to come at any moment. Then we did it!
Once we roughed it through the first couple second act encounters, I finally got my ult. In the previous fails what happened was the Brawler was pushing far ahead, triggering the the juvies and drones who would put him down immediately then advance too far for me to have a good position to pop the ult (the chest-high piece of cover that can fit two people). At least I think that’s what happened, unless they were on a timer and would’ve advanced that far anyway. So I needed to get my ult before then and push ahead to the cover piece before any juvies and drones got to that point. On the successful run, the timing was perfect. I downed all the drones and popped a bunch of juvies. I hardly had any Claw ammo though, so it ran out well before ult was done and had to switch to snub. Didn’t help Anchor took some of the Claw ammo too for no reason. By that time I had done plenty of damage though, so Anchor could clean up. Had zero ammo for the LZ, only one flash. We got through by skin of our teeth. Anyway, we finally got through it and now I can breath a sigh of relief!
