I have also provided two graphs (Current as of Reup 60)

%age progress curve

XP progression per reup

Hopefully this helps people see the differences more clearly in terms of progression before and after the reup update.

I wonder what TC did with my 67,295,250 XP…

Other reference number I came up with based on this : Current Reup 50 level 100 is ~18% of the original. Exact number is 18.0036188(14,775,750/82,071,000 x 100), but realistically, only the 18% out of that number matter.

In other words, you have to get about 5.6 times less total XP than you used to for the max Reup. Rounded up, mind you. This is what you get when you divide 100 by 18 : 5.555555555555556. (Dividing 100 by 18.0036188 gives you 5.554438860971526, aka a negligible difference.)

I still stand by my point that while the grind was excessively ridiculous beforehand, TC WAY overdid it with this.

Cumulative XP for old Re-Up : 82,071,000
Cumulative XP for new Re-Up : 14,775,750

These numbers tell me all I need to know.

Mad respect for all players who managed to grind to Re-Up 50 before the Re-Up update.

How does this compare to the WIngs 10 from gears 4?

They voided it and will add re-ups 51-100 in OP6 or OP7 with achievements, thus having you so start grinding again.

Because TC…

From reup 0 to wings 10 on Gears 4, you needed 454,715,192 XP which is about 30.77 times what is currently needed for max rank.

If you compare Gears 4 with the old Gears 5 reup limit, it is 5.54 times the total

You can’t really compare Gears 4 and 5, as Gears 4 had bounties which gave loads of XP.

Of course you can compare. What was the total XP needed to hit WIngs 10 and reup 50?

There’s a chart here but I didn’t bother to add it all together(the numbers in the Leveling XP tab). Wings 6-10 were basically yhe Wings 5 requirements repeated.

Havjng said that, as it was mentioned above, Gears 4 also gave more XP per match than Gears 5 with its higher requirements… not that it changed much because you’d still need like 5 Incon runs(without an XP boost running to be clear) for one level at some point.

Wouldn’t this be much harder to calculate as GOW4’s XP rates were different? So for example if you completed an inconceivable Horde 1-50 match, the average XP given out is different to GOW5?

19 posts were merged into an existing topic: The Next Dimension

They screwed the people that put a load of time into getting the original reup 50. But they didn’t screw them over by reducing the requirements - they screwed then over by putting out that original XP curve.

They need to remember this when coming up with the Gears 6 XP curve.

Anyone above Reup 24/25 effectively lost XP here if TC doesn’t keep a backlog of it somewhere. Me also being part of that group as I had just about gotten to Reup 31 before the update, but obviously nowhere near as much as those who were at 37-50.

A lot more XP was placed on performance as well, like if you did a speed run and you were an Engineer, you would get more XP compared to the Scout, even though both are just as important.

Gears 5 does put a lot on ribbons but not as much as Gears 4.

With the bounty card, you would get anywhere from 300k to 350k XP per horde speedrun in about 1 hr 15 mins. So to hit max rank you needed to do about 1300 speedruns assuming you earned 350k each time.

I have edited my earlier comment to reflect the total number…

I feel like adding Wings in Gears 4 was a little more warranted because of Credits. Adding Re-ups in Gears 5 wouldn’t encourage people to play as much as Gears 4, naturally, because you don’t get as much. Unless the rewards are really good.

If Re-ups were to give Gears Coins, that may change things, but they are still not as rare as Credits.
