Chainsaw duel mechanics

Is it just me or does the person you chainsaw duel not have to rev their saw as well?
Tried cutting a few guys on walls engaged with someone around it in front of them and cause they sort of face you when not looking around corner they engage the chainsaw duel and they aren’t revved up.

So did they make it automatic now with someone face to face if they are just holding a lancer?

It was in every game except Judgment (and maybe 2).
