This isn’t about when, it’s about how much.
If the game had been good, and not the crap that it is, I can guarantee you that they wouldn’t be selling it for 50-60% off within 2 months of its release.
Can’t complain, got the Ultimate edition for half price and I am pretty happy! But this is why I don’t buy games day 1, plus the fact that most AAA games are broken at launch or most content doesn’t even drop a month or 6 later… Finally, FOMO can kiss my behind!!!

Does anyone actually read threads before adding their $0,02 anymore? It was pointed out yesterday that Modern Warfare was given a similar Black Friday discount. Is it crap too? Or are these kinda discounts just pretty normal for Black Friday maybe?
Cripes, you can still think the game itself is a pantload all you want. That doesn’t require trying to contort facts to fit your chosen opinion.

I am unsure what you are complaining about. Pretty much every video game gets its prices reduced at some point. And that all depends on how well its doing. You might be un-happy about the game itself, but complaining about the price reduction is just complaining to complain. It makes no sense for them to keep the price high if demand is low. That is simple economics. Find a new soapbox homie. This one is weak at best.

If I want a game day 1 I pay day 1 prices. More than happy with that and the fact others can pick up later for 20/30% or more cheaper I’m also more than happy with.
It is all about choice, you choose or you don’t.

By the way, those discounts for Gears 5 came weeks before Black Friday so, you should find out before you write.

You still evidently aren’t reading the thread. I wasn’t the one who pointed it out in the first place - @ll_R_E_D_l was. And I’m sure they can probably tell you wherever they saw it.
I am amused by the idea that I would have Black Friday discount screenshots handy, just in case I have to testify in court about it, I assume.
EDIT: Did 45 seconds of Googling, and found a link to the deal mentioning the previous $38 deal for Black Friday, and another deal for $40 on Cyber Monday.

Well, you didn’t answer my question after all.
The MW standard costs $60 so $38 is not equivalent to 50% or 60% discount, which is the OP’s disagreement, and what I was talking about.
@Aquiles_Wars Your ■■■■■■■■ me. Now your splitting hairs about MW not being exactly 50% off? For the record you and the OP arent arguing any point at all. You are both crying over a video game being discounted post launch. You are whining about the actual % amount off the original day 1 price. News flash. I play gears every day and all ive paid is an additional $5 a month for game pass ultimate. Day 1 prices are day 1 prices. If you dont like the fact that you paid 50 or 60 percent more than its discounted price a few months later, wait a few months post launch to buy all your video games. Problem Solved. God what a couple of cry babies

Relax that you have been the one who compared the MW discounts with the G5 discounts, which are not the same (38% vs 60% are the maximum discounts each has had) and since you did not find how to argue with evidence your own comment you are trying to avoid it.
And don’t worry, as a PC player and Steam mainly I have learned that you should never buy games at their release. In fact I have bought almost all my library at very good prices… but never, reads well, I had never seen a game considered AAA have a 60% discount just 2 months after its release, and that only speaks of its resounding failure.
That’s what happens when you release a game, beta without a doubt, in a hurry without caring about the quality of the product being offered.
Now you know that Gears 5 has been able to buy up to 60% off and not just almost 50% off.

Did you read any of my post? It wasnt just about Gears being a certain % off but other games that just came out. I was saying the new CoD was almost 50% off and it launched after Gears 5.
The whole point of my post was that if your gonna get mad for paying full price at launch then dont buy it at launch especially when black friday is right around the corner

MW: $38
A 38% discount is not the same as a 60% discount, whether you understand it or not.
I’m just pleased we managed to get through all that “hard and fast” nonsense. What was all that about?

Wrong, the discomfort is the amount of discount this game has.
We all know that on Black Friday there are discounts, but never from 50% to 60% when a game is very recent, unless this is a garbage, as is the case with G5.
No one ever said CoD was 50-60% off. The $38 was brought up to prove that a new game can get a massive discount.
Also maybe if Gears wasnt launched on Gamepass it wouldnt have gotten a massive discount who knows. MS already made a ton of money off of it so why not offer it up with a that discount to get even more sales
And I thought the Thread is already dead. Interesting how this Thread exploded just because I had a moment of frustration with the franchise. All I know is that I will never play Gears 5 ever again, even if this black friday discount never happened. I’m just done with new Gears games and maybe won`t play any games any time soon. returning to gears of war 4 will be impossible for me because TC still hasn’t fixed my achievement bug after all these years. Still can not unlock most of the hidden story achievements and on top of that TC removed my Ironman story completion. Just the final stab in my back. Gears games were mostly the only games I played regularly over the past years. But i think its time to say good bye to the franchise.
Time to create my own stuff.
