Audio on Gears 5

The weirdest thing has been happening to me lately In only Gears 5.

I have a turtle beach 700 stealth & lately the audio for gears suddenly mutes. Mid match. At first I thought it was the headset. Kept powering down & powering up mid match.

Today it was bad. Muted after 4 seconds. No audio. Then reset & same, up to 4 seconds then muted.

I lose because I’m too busy messing with the headset.

Then I go to a different game, could be any game, & my headset works perfect.

Anyone else having the same issue?

Is it gone completely or just a few seconds??
Sometimes i lose sound for a few seconds but then its normal.

Seems to be random when it it happens, same when i record clips, some have sound others dont🤔

Was on & off but this last game it was just off.

I don’t know what’s going on…

Thought it was my headset but I go to borderlands to test it out & it works… then use it for Netflix & no problems…

Perhaps this will require a support ticket.

My head set has never completely went off.

I mostly only play gears with a head set on, sometimes dayz just so i no where shots are coming from. Never lost sound on that gm tho.

Good luck.:+1:

Some things mute on mine. It rarely last more than a match or when I’m in main menu. It’s on and off. Definitely not the headset it’s always been the game. Like there will be no music or environmental sounds etc. Won’t be everything at once for me. Just random. Doesn’t really bother me. I never experienced total mute, Only partially muted things.

Found the issue. You fell for the meme.

Works now. I guess it was just that time. Not sure why…

@HerrKatzchen what brand would you recommend? Honestly not really the techy type

the only audio issues i’ve had are loud noises that happen when the audio bugs, it’ll cut in and out and irritate me, i hope they do find a fix for it

My TV outputs sound.

Sometimes a warden will spawn and since I turned off hit points and health I can’t see the icon. The audio sometimes bugs out so I can’t even hear the warden running up on me and the group resulting in a very startling jump scare.

Yeah that’s really annoying …

Scared me so bad I actually fell out my chair once.

If you’re still having the same issue, check this out:

Krylon_Blue had the same issue before in Gears 5 and that proposed solution fixed it…

You can hear my audio cut out in that video. There will be crowd noise which didn’t cut out from iTunes as I was listening to One More Light Live by Linkin Park. It was only game audio on certain games, including Gears and Doom, that would cut out.

Here’s a video from it happening on Doom Eternal

Most of the time it was as you see in these videos. A cut out of audio but it came back. But I’ve had a few instances where it would cut out completely and it wasn’t my headset or anything to do with hardware. The only fix was software as @Dreamz_Maker posted above.

I’m not sure if you’re on Xbox or PC though. My issues were on PC which is why this solution worked for me.

Thanks, I’m on xbox, I will try do download this , hope it works!

Yeah it does randomly mute like those vids. Today is was completely. I was worried. Didn’t know it was a common issue. I’m glad It isn’t my xbox or headset.

There’s nothing to download unfortunately. My issues were fixed with a command prompt within Windows. Xbox doesn’t have this option. :frowning:

I do believe there is an issue within Gears on Xbox though. Do you use Instant On or Power Saver? Either way, hold down the power button until the system turns off. Let go at this point and start the system. This hard reset may help. If you’re using Instant On switch to Power Saver.

Didn’t even know I had that. Lol.

Thanks a bunch

No problem. Hopefully your issue gets resolved. Instant On has always been a problem. Even a power down on Power Saver isn’t full powered off which is why the hard reset may help.

The voices now sound tinny to me. The surround sound doesn’t work correctly. The characters voices sometimes sound loud but then if they’re five feet away I can’t hear them anymore. People are sneaking up on me, even tripping my flashes, without me hearing them. I know this started recently because I got a new PC with a 2060. I think it has something to do with the new graphics card and drivers. My old PC, while it didn’t run very well, never had this issue with audio.

edit: think I discovered a fix online. If anyone else is still looking for a fix, lmk I’ll post the link.
