I actually did try this +/- 6 times and out of all of those times that had only worked for me maybe once or twice. My other solution was spamming every button on my controller, which only worked once out of the many times that I tried that too.
Another thing that worked was a mixture between repeatedly switching my guns, using the melee button, and using the select button to access and exit out of the map, which worked once maybe twice.
Either way, I usually get kicked for inactivity before I can get any of these solutions to work.
