Anyone else noticed TC's funny definition of "we didn't add it into Gears?" Very crafty double speek

They had a good system in gears 4.
Social, core and competitive.

Why didn’t they use this in gears 5?
And they could add all this aim assist and melee
Lunge and eleminations instead of kills and all that stuff to social?

In that way they could help the new players to get the feeling for the game in social. Give them the feeling they can compete. Than they move to ranked and get there ■■■■■ kicked, if they like the game they are going to improve and play. Then can move to competitive if they want?

In core and especially competitive the tuning would be like in gears 4, so you actually need some skill to compete?

Having two+ different weapon tuning for the game makes no sense imo. I don’t think there is another competitive game out there that does that.

The reason why they didn’t do that this time around is because enough people voiced their opinion against it, and for good reason. How do you expect people to get good enough for ranked if the game works differently on social? That’s why vs AI exists, so that people can get accustomed to Gears MP and can then switch to regular quickplay and/or ranked. Plus having social/comp/ranked only splits the already small community and in turn makes the wait longer for searching matches.

I will say having different tunings for vs/horde + escape makes sense though. Plenty of other games that do that when they have both PvE and PvP.

Bringing that system back would be a terrible idea…

Fair point.
Maybe your right. It is weird to have multiple tunings for the same versus game.
Then i would just like to see the melee lunge and excessive aim assist removed.
The game has changed to assist new players.
But i think these changes will not be comming.
It would be cool if they added 2 vs 2 or wingman.
These modes are brutal for new players (just my opinion)

Still, if everything stays the same as it is now, most veteran players will still be better than the new players.

In the matches i have a good connection i mostly win,
This just is not the case for me in the netherlands.
Maybe if i finally have a good connection i dont care about all this

Having 1 tuning to make both core and comp players happy is impossible.

So lets make up something complete new, which both of those groups will hate, and try to please new players we hope to attract to this game.

Statements like that are issue. BR doesn’t fit in gears. Because of comments like that gears looked at other games and tried to implement things that are successful for those games.

Don’t ask for things that don’t fit. Because they’ll attempt to make it fit, causing more issues and changing what used to be known as gow

I would rather have a separate mode, which doesn’t “fit” in Gears, which people can play, than the current situation where they messed up the WHOLE of versus, in an attempt to appeal to… someone…

How about:

  1. blinding damage omen which renders you unable to see anything once you take any damage, in CQB? Does that belong in gears?
  2. 5m lunging auto homing knife melee with no delay or cooldown - does that belong in gears?
  3. autoaim / aim assist which DRAGS your cursor through smoke on a charged up torque bow, without you touching any sticks - does that belong in gears?

etc, etc, etc…

I would rather have a mode which doesn’t belong in gears, separate from the core versus, than all these crap elements IN versus…

But yeah, your opinion is different, that’s cool… Everyone likes different things.

I can actually still see just fine with the omen. And they’re adding a slider for those that can’t see.

You seen the gears outfits? That armor better be packed with some steroids. Look at JDs arm in campaign. Fahz’ leg. Those folks are on serious pep.

Downside of people always asking for some aim assist with controllers. Talked about in devstream.

well, I’m willing to bet you don’t play Versus, and if you do, you’re one of the ones who stay back and lancer from a distance

When you are in CQB gnasher battle, and get hit, that damage omen renders you blind and unable to really see your opponents or do anything. Makes it virtually impossible to continue any battle once you’re hit for heavy damage, so it becomes a race to see who can blind whom first… And forget about 1v2s or 1v3s… I’d had many cases where I would outplay someone and I KNOW there is an another enemy near by but I can’t see him, because my screen is just full red, and so I die…

That intensity slider - awesome. So they built a mechanism which is so broken they need to disable it to allow normal game play to continue… (because that’s what that slider is - you turn off that mechanism, and you don’t get any information from it).

I would rather they gave us the option of using the ice omen for all damage, at least that one doesn’t blind you.

We are all idiots on this blessed day.

While I agree that their wording is often slippery, vague or underselling the severity of a situation, it’s a business and they have studio heads and XBox/Microsoft to answer to.

It’s a huge risk to come out and say “Our new ranking system is a titanic disaster and nearly every. Single. Player. Has been negatively impacted”. Or “Our newly added and unprecedented aim adhesion is very likely why most if not all players are dissatisfied with aim assist right now. Oops”.

Massive respect if their official stance were a little more straightforward, but they need to stick to the finely tuned and cautious dialogue as to not cause more problems for themselves.

yeah, I totally agree, they are a public company, accountable to shareholders, corporate owners, etc, and they all want to keep their jobs, so it makes perfect sense to hide behind business double speak…

We just love calling them out on it…

BS is BS. Even if we understand why they have to communicate that way we’re not obligated to buy it.

most likely @DubiousIQ they don’t deserve the oportunity to have developed a Gears of War Game. . it almost feels that the task was so much difficult for them , that they created a heated pile of crap in so many ways…

maybe Microsoft already took account of that , and they are going to decide to give such task to another developer company, at the end they own the rights for the game and they can pretty much do anything they want.

I do play versus actually. And barely if at all touch my lancer. Been playing at diamond/ master. Broken rankingsystem or not, I’ve had my share of actual matches. And I personally have no issues with the omen at all.

I hope we never end up with 2 different weapon tunings again, that just divides the game further. I honestly never liked the comp tuning in 4.

That Gnasher feels like the damn muzzle flash is the only damage dealer yet somehow it feels like you’re shooting a slug when it comes to headshots.

Gears 4 Core Gnasher Tuning = Best tuning if i’m being real.

Not that it matters, but as a fellow master rank player, I also can make do with the new omen.

Did I prefer the old one? Sure, but I just get on with it.

Guys, if you believe this is fine, and how CQB should be , then fine, power to you, we’ll just have to agree to disagree…
