Seems like maybe all of the above?
I just hope it all works out as well as it appears.

I’m glad we got Pahanu. The seething of versus-players never gets old and it’s a great PvE-Map.
Define “great”? Is having to wait 5 minutes for Swarm to reach you fun? If you are just judging by aesthetics then I understand but otherwise its trash for PvE and Versus.
That dude was supposed to make a map for PvP AND PvE, might be a difficult task but there have been plenty of maps in Gears past that have achieved this already, he failed this time. Not saying it takes away from all the good maps he made (Foundation, Harbor, District) but don’t give me this crap that because he made a map that’s pretty he should get a standing ovation.
Are you playing a different map? Marcus + Fahz or even Marcus by himself annihilates everything across half the map or in Fahz’ case the entire map.
I’ve beaten the map about 5 times on Master difficulty… Its real slow like. Its why people don’t like Bunker either.
The things people have complained about Gears 5, regarding the lancer being utilized too much and the game moving away from the gnasher heavy gameplay? That’s what he wanted for the series. He actually hated the way the gnasher was so popular. It took away from his precious paintball style cover shooter dreams. He was notoriously stubborn when he worked on Gears. If he was back officially, TC would have doubled down. Plus he insulted the ■■■■ out of Gears fans, and Microsoft numerous times.
Idk, 1h47min seems average to me. Bunker is really bad though, at least spawn sides.
Ok GARRETT,
IM probably right behind you when tc implements the slower slide speed.
Guess we can hold hands when walking out.
As a very wise man once said
"F you , f you , your cool and f you. Im out "

before we rush to put blame on some bad maps on one persons shoulders I think we need to point out maps get touched (and played) by lots of people in the studio. TC thought Pahanu was good enough to send out the door, that’s on the entire team.
TC probably won’t implement the slower slide speed… They base all their decisions on how popular/unpopular something is, slower slide speed seems really controversial so I doubt they’ll put it in.
@Goodacre well said, though I do think the core blame rests on the developer behind said map (he’s the dude that does the basic layout and such after all) the fact no one thought it would be a flop bodes poorly for the company going forward.
Oof and Cliff was also a driving force on a lot of aspects that people hated about Judgement.
Not to mention Gears 5 at launch is like his wet dream and look how the community liked that.
I really like Cliffy and thank him for giving us this stupid ■■■ game. But that doesn’t make him right for the job.
Just like I love George Lucas, but I wouldn’t let him write and direct his own movie without help again.
Can’t believe I had to scroll so far down to see this. Some of y’all just looking for someone to vilify when the blame rests on everyone involved. One man doesn’t just make a map and throw it in to the game.
I really hope ur right.
I do know if they do. It will cost Microsoft over 500.00 ( series X)
and what tc has for contant that is worth buying.
Im prayin they don’t implement it. It will be the sole reason of me continuing to play or not to play.
Yup. TC losing employees now. Still unhappy about tdm.
Maybe he knows something we don’t.
They’re not losing employees. They’re restructuring from within and the results are clearly showing.
That’s optimistic. I’d like to think you are right.
How cool would it be to have a dev team that cares about the fans?
What I really haven’t seen a change in is the interaction with the fans.
At least not to an acceptable level yet.
Hmm. I gotta disagree there. If you took the time to watch all the streams this week, you’d see the care and interaction with fans is already there.
If you’re referring strictly to the forums, I doubt it’ll ever be at the level you’re expecting. Forums are simply a dying platform. TC has done a fair bit on the forums as of late, I wouldn’t expect that much more. If you want constant updates, I suggest you follow them on Twitter and watch the weekly dev streams.
TC is extremely passionate about Gears. They’ve made a lot of mistakes with 5, but they’re making it right.
I know a lot of relevant questions were posed to the team that mattered to fans.
Not answering or ignoring them is not a good practice.
And I’m pretty sure we were promised more forum interaction.
Maybe it’s something involved with rumor that splash damage and other studios being taken over by large china corporation? I read recently an article with this information. And Splash damage was resposible for big part of Gears 5 and Tactics.
