Wallbouncing doesnāt really feel like a competent playstyle in 5, it has it moments but map layouts, weapon damage, delays etc hold it back.

Have you ever played any previous Gears of War title!? Thats what I loved about Gears of War, fast & close gnasher fight.
With Gear 5 I think it doesnt feel the same way as beforeā¦
Yes you are, if you donāt like the unique features that set this game apart from every other boring corporate game, then Gears isnāt meant for you
If youāre missing your shots against somebody whos mindlessly pressing A while missing their own shots just melee them. Itās easy to wallbounce but it takes some practice to actually utilise it and hit your shots
I never liked wall bouncing in any of the gears installments. Anything that depends on button mashing and putting something in the center of the screen to me is less skill based and more luck based. Itās like no scoping in CoD. Your not a good shot if you can do it. The gameās aim assist is doing the work for you. Or itās like street fighter and mortal kombat these days. Before you had to block at precise frames to get 0 dmg now you can mash the button and it will block for you. Stop lowering the bar.
Even without wall bouncing the cover in this gears sucks in my opinion. I dont know if itās bad design or the AIs accuracy is insane on horde past wave 40, but even when Im in cover Im still getting shot. I feel this games cover system went backwards. I feel safer strafing behind a wall blocking LoS. Too many times Im hurt, I duck back into cover only to get hit in the shoulder and were on the same elevation. If the shooter had high ground it would make sense but it doesnt apply here.

Iām a long time gears player and I did like wall bouncing at a time but now my hands get sore doing it lol so I try to do it sparingly like when Iām trying to be a real sweat and beat someone who is owning me etc.

Wallbouncing used to be a skill in older games now not so much itās become a spam and sponge tactic outpositoning your opponent barely counts for anything anymore hate it with a passion

Pro tip if you see someone wall bouncing just chainsaw and they will usually get sucked into the vortex that is created when you chainsaw and die. Works especially well on people that are trying to show off.
To me that doesnāt look skilled.
Yes you have to practice to be able to do that but landing a killing shot while doing that isnāt skill, its luck.

Wall bouncing is just another way to play the game. You can dominate without it, but you can also dominate with it.
Itās just the way some people play.
