I actually own the maps in gears 5 vs. I’ll 1v1 anybody out there. It’s the other stuff that kills it for me. The campaign is mostly Del and Kait riding a snow sail whatever around blindly. It takes FOREVER to get to the real action. The targeting system is not as predictable or stable. The grenade plants are no where near as satisfying as the other games. It even looks weird when you plant one. Escape seems thrown together last minute. The active reload is completely different. And the ranking system in horde makes no sense. Most of the time the math just doesn’t add up for the top player each wave. I could go on forever. I think the bottom line is this franchise has moved on from the original Gears development team and they just literally can’t serve up the same game.

It’s so bad I went back to revisit Judgment.

Not at all. I think at this point many people are frustrated and have simply given up on Gears as a whole after dealing with this game for so long, myself included. It’s simply not satisfying to play in any capacity.

If they didn’t touch Gears 4 at all in an attempt to get more people to play Gears 5, I would have kept playing it, but it’s a bit too late for that now.

Of course you are not the only one. Most of us are disappointed with Gears 5 because beyond the campaign, their PvP lacks fun, frenzy, addictive mobility and so many elements that made this saga great.

In the 5 you don’t feel any satisfaction when you kill the enemy, the gnasher looks like a carnival shotgun and if you add the car pointed at it, the magnetic bullets turn it into a lousy shooter.
We cannot forget the childish elements as fashionable as the ridiculous gestures, marks and stains.
That may have a place in a Fornite type game, but in a raw, bloody and violent saga like Gears definitely not.

What the hell were you thinking, TC???

Supposedly with Gears 4 they gained a lot of experience on how to make a good game, but all that knowledge was flushed down the toilet.

It always makes me laugh…wasn’t the tag with UE “we gained your trust with UE” and then something about 4 and so on.

I don’t think it is a coincidence that TC’s best attempt at Gears is a reskined Epic game

Maybe with 6 they will get it right, but don’t forget Epics 4th game in the series was J! (I actually like bits of it)
What will TC’s forth Gears game be like…

Be afraid!

3 is my favourite to this day, Hell, still paying it on daily basis. Loved 4 too and 5 with it’s fault too. I don’t mind the hero system but we need a classic horde too like in 2 or 3 or at least like in 4. I love your comments btw

I think anyone who is a fan of Gears would be let down by this game tbh.

A lot was expected and promised.

What we got was kinda embarrassing.

Most fans are or were with some aspect of the game. However 6 months later, the game has improved a lot. TC has been taking feedback very seriously and making constant updates to the game. The major issue the game has right now is the lack of maps, and the Op 3 delay did not help that.

But the core gameplay has improved significantly since launch which was the main issue most people had, and although it’s still far from perfect, the Ranking system is also much better now.

Now we just need maps, a lot of them.

I wouldn’t say it’s improved a lot tbh.

It’s still slow, inconsistent and TC keep changing and changing back and forth - yet they changed the Markza, killed it off and then never at least tried anything else or spoke much about it.

I agree we need maps, lots of maps though.

TC haven’t given up yet, and I want to see the game get to a good place so that when Op3 drops, it’s at least enjoyable as some may be coming back to see what’s changed.

If you look at all of the changes made since launch, the core gameplay really has improved a lot. Just to list a few:

  • Adjusting aim adhesion across all ranked modes
  • Adjusting the effect of the flash bangs
  • Nerfing the melee before and after shots
  • Nerfing the lancer
  • Reducing the ammo in the Overkill
  • Overall speed increase to the gameplay
  • Gnasher tuning (still in progress but it’s much, much better, especially after the gib range adjustment)
  • Removing the melee speed boost (which was actually a historical Gears issue, finally corrected and removed in 5)
  • Adding more ammo to the Gnasher
  • Etc

And there’s a lot more that has been done since launch that I’m sure I did not list. IMO where we are now is a significant improvement to the core gameplay compared to launch. “It’s still slow” is subjective as some people actually think it’s now too fast. IMO the hyper bounce gameplay seen in Gears 4 was too fast. They seem to have found a decent balance in 5.

Hyperbounce is where it’s at.

Even that isn’t fast enough.

And I understand changes have been made but most of those shouldn’t have even been a thing tbh.

I know TC is trying, this is why they should have had a beta in March/April.

It never happened.

I agree more measures could have been taken to get a more refined product on release date. You can tell they needed more time. I’m sure the stupid Terminator deal didn’t help them either.

That being said, I’m willing to overlook the rough launch as long as TC remains committed to their game and their fans. And let’s be honest, rough launches are nothing new to Gears. It has happened with every Gears game. However it is amplified with Gears 5 due to other big issues such as the Ranking system, and the overall lack of maps.

I hope @Link23809 this won’t happen on Gears of War 6, I would really like to have a game that works out of the box, like " ZELDA: A LINK TO THE PAST".

We would all love to see that.

Gears UE could still be played to this day if they didnt change everything and remove the server browser or remove execution from public matches
