Am I the only hardcore Gears fan who is completely let down by Gears 5?

I’m really disappointed in Gears 5. We’re huge fans in this house but we’ve now stopped playing completely. I’m not hard core imo but I have bought every Gears game though.

This game lost me at launch tbh. I’ve tried coming back but TC just seem to find ways to annoy me more. My biggest issues are with the store, the grind and being forced to play how TC want me to play.

I don’t see that changing at all. Gears5 is a full priced game with a free to play gaas economy designed to make you chase carrots. Gears never used to be that game. I’ll check out op3 but I’m not holding my breath.

I still play the game, hours at a time some 15 years now. It can’t be that bad

The Hero system does not impress me, being able to choose your own character, whoever it is, is part of the fun of gears, in a way i understand why The Coalition did it, but to be honest, it is a bad idea. At least they could allow different skins of the same character in game.
I hate how the Engineer has been created for Gears 5, the Engineer is a Unique character, in fact all are/should be Unique, to the point only the Engineer should build, with options to lock down their Fortifications, no one likes it when you create a masterpiece and some noob comes along and starts moving stuff around, and it happens. The Fabricator should only be moved by the Engineer too, it is the Engineers responsibility to Build and Repair, he/she has to build from the Fabricator and therefor needs to position the Fabricator the where the Engineer can build effectively. You get some games where someone moves the Fabricator, the Engineer is not happy where it is and tries to move it, what you then get is a wipe, because some noob has decided he/she knows better then the Engineer. Most Engineers know exactly what they want to do, where and when, and currently this is not possible.
Jack, the Forge and the Taps are pathetic, they do not belong on Gears, never have. Energy should not be used for personal skills, and Energy needs to be deposited at the end of the wave.
The other charaters need to be Unique in their own trades and rights, i only play the Engineer, so i am not judge or expert on these charaters, so hopefully someone who is skilled in these characters can offer some expert advice as to what they need to be, and or what.
Escape is just dumb, pure dumb, Overrun would have been a better choice, or some sort of Firefight.
The Stim in the game to me is just wrong, it feels wrong, it looks wrong, so why not bring back the Stim Grenade, have a COG character carrying them along with their Ultimate.
I could go on and on here, but to me, these are the most important. For me personally that is.

Oh, and answer to the question asked. No, you are not the only one let down by Gears. I am being forced to have a break from Gears, because of the Barrier thing with Baird (and yes i know it is fixed).

Gears 1 was a near perfect game.
UE had g3 shot gun stats fudged onto it, pellet size, spread, damage etc.
Without the iconic shotgun UE lost a lot of its shine.

Well said! Game is a bust. If they change the targeting system, put out some actual gears characters with new maps it might be salvageable.

Gameplay is a definite improvement with the last update.

I do enjoy the game I just think the leaderboard / tour of duty side need tidying up, as well as the lack of characters.

Whats wrong with gears 5 .? Gears 4 was horrible compared to gears 5 i dont have to drop $50 to TRY to get something out of packs like gears 4 i can buy or work for what i want in gears 5 … Gears 5 campaign is way better then gears 4 … gears 5 have more / better game modes & more classes unlike gears 4 only had 5 classes less game modes no escape ether … Iv played them all since day 1 X360 days and if you ask me gears 3 is where it started changing … Gears J is better then gears 4 and gears 5 is better then both so whats the problem.? Is it bc your gnasher dont work rite is why all the hate.? it wont ever be rite with 20 + updates on the gnasher each gears game other then the gnasher why is gears 5 so hated .? I really want to know why ppl hate it so much i think its the best gears since gears 3 and if you think gears J or 4 is better then gears 5 your just crazy and not a real gears fan

There will be new characters and maps to we all know it just bc we haven’t gotten them yet dont make it trash … Only thing i see wrong is the community the hart of man has grow cold

Damage drop off was the same and they fixed stupid back packing.
Not sure about pellet spread though.

What about better maps? Seems like their just recycling old gears maps. The launch maps don’t do it for me.

They need to port over 4s maps. Or at least have been working on it way in advance. Much as it sucks to have the same maps at least it would have been a larger variety

Thats a plus one for fixing backpacking but minus ten for removing random pellet spread ( especially as there were no complaints about it at the time).
another minus ten for carrying part of those shotgun changes over to campaign and never fixing it.
It had random spread and super tiny pellets. This made wretches very annoying on my insane play through.

As is now expected of tc, they messed with stuff just because they could, didn’t think of the consequences of it carrying into campaign and never cared to address it. Let alone fix it.

I wish ue was this perfect update of g1 , but it wasn’t.

Not as much disappointed as I am bored. I am still playing though, but not as much as before. Will not be going back to the old games. They might be better in several ways or at least from a nostalgic point of view but I just dont feel like going back.

Tbh i had no real problems hitting enemies inPvP or PVE with the gnasher.
If it was changed then i did not really notice that… Strange

The hit detection is one of the most frustrating things 4 me. The ranking system doesnt make sense etc…etc…i still play but not as much as i rage when my shots dont register or when i do decent i get 0 points waste of time.
