Just noticed the different aim assist “settings” in the modes.
Any idea the difference?

This post answers your question. Adhesion, friction, and magnetism are all turned off when aim assist is “competitive” (with the exception of magnetism on Gnasher hipfire).
Easy enough to answer:
We turn off everything when the aim assist is disabled with the exception of Gnasher hipfire magnetism. Shooting the Gnasher without this is a pretty dire experience. It would be different if there was an crosshair on screen when firing from the hip, but that isn’t the Gears way
Both friction and adhesion are only enabled when the player is aiming. These systems do not make sense if the player isn’t focused on a crosshair as reference.

You’re thinking of auto aim, which is different from aim assist.
