Two words, one meaning, multiple ways to execute, and massive repercussions if not done. SITUATIONAL AWARENESS.
You should be aware! So many players have tunnel vision when it comes to this game mode. Single minded focus on one enemy will get you killed and your team wiped. I can’t list all the times a daily horde has failed because of lack of this duty.
There are tons of auido cues that let you know, when a bastion has spawned, a guardian, a sentinel…etc. There are sounds of footsteps, razor wire being triggered, grunts. There are screams of “I am down!!!” “Get over here quick!” Heavy panting and breathing, letting you know your teammates are hurt or out of commission. Meanwhile you are busy playing peek-a-boo with a drone halfway across the map that will down you in 2 hits with precision accuracy while your teammate bleeds at your feet. While a scion is allowed to walk right up behind you and blow you away. While a guardian goes unchecked and gets into your backrow and ends the whole run.
Situational Awareness is everyone’s responsibility. CONSTANTLY rotate your camera when you take cover to check your surroundings. Go into tactical communications view to see if there are enemies spotted, check the health of your team to see who is pinned down…etc. FOCUS all of your attention on enemies that can end a run. Pouncers/Bastions/Guardians/Sentinels/hell even juvies! If they have superior mobility and get past your defenses it is everyone’s job to take that thing down! There are too many people worried about getting a kill or winning a firefight and not worried about winning the match.
Every position is not worth fighting for. Holding the line only goes so far. Retreat is an option and sometimes the best option. You have to be aware of the 10 enemies and Matriarch coming at your fences on side A and the Scion and 2 enemies coming at side B. Clear out side B and be ready to book it, because they are getting in and you need to secure your exit point. Beware those who are not aware. Don’t be that guy gets your whole team wiped because you were busy aiming down the sights and not watching everyone’s back!
