A pro who wants to help things improve. Hear me out?(PVP thread)

Fully aware, so I was going to stop posting in this thread afterwards since I’m anything but a PvP regular and do not really have much say in this matter, or on it. My post was directed at the poster who I responded to, with the point being that it may not be the best idea to only listen to the top 1% or best players out there for certain modes/things in games.

That said, even if I do not play Versus, I think it’s commendable that you decided to get involved with the forum users on this matter so I hope you can find some sort of consensus around what to do here in a constructive manner. Wouldn’t look into what Wolf said, he’s a little… temperamental, let’s say. Turns out he’s gotten banned for it because he wasn’t really being very respectful towards some on here who didn’t agree with the way he saw the currently not very balanced or well designed Horde. But this probably isn’t interesting to you so I’ll leave it at that.

He’s arrogant and pompous because he disagreed with you?
The fact is that most casuals have no clue how the game works. That isn’t rude to say its just a fact.

he wasn’t disagreeing with ME. I didn’t ask him anything. he was commenting on the wide spread feeling at the time, about the game. Feeling I happened to agree with.

Dismissing a widely felt impression by suggesting the feeling is just an indication of everyone’s lack of ability to play the game (and these were Diamond level players from GoW4 who were expressing this opinion) was the ultimate in arrogance, I thought.

he is extremely full of himself, and has a grossly exaggerated sense of his and his teams’ and his league’s importance in the Gears world. IMO.

YMMV.

The markza was game breaking in Competitive and in social. Not sure how you come ot the conclusion pros ruined that.

Sorry, you have your opinions, I have mine, hang around the forums for more than 37min (when you created this account) and we can chat down the road about the differences between our views of the game

Because at the moment you sound like a pro player who created a smurf account to support the OP

I never said he directly responded to you. The game was only slow at launch if you played modes with autoaim (anything that wasn’t Escalation) where the lancer meant you couldn’t move. He was factually correct.
Not sure why you’re mentioning diamond ranks when Gears has never had a meaningful ranking system.

Even games like CSGO and Overwatch consider their ranking systems jokes.
And that’s with much larger player bases.

I was thinking the same. And here I was welcoming him to the forums in my response to him… Silly me. :yum:

Yea I created this smurf account 10 years ago and kept up the gold in the hopes of one day posting on the forums. Even posted on the Epic forums as a foil.

Not sure why I would bother sticking around a group people who irrationally hate competitive but you never know what could happen.

Good to see the Gears forums are still the same hivemind of people unwilling to change their opinion.
Brings me back to 2011.

Imagine telling people to stay in their circle jerk off sessions of hivemind like activity, and then turn around and tell those same people that THEY are the toxic ones…
Some people…

To all the people he could’ve said that to, he said it to @D_A_N_III_3_L, who’s a total sweetheart, to the point where it’s a bit creepy.

It’s never fun in any game to press a button and have to wait for something to happen.

They increased movement speed (like up A) but didn’t increase weapon switching speed.
Rolling is still a death penalty.

Roadie strafing still feels wrong, like it’s too slow

There are several things and I’d really like for them to generally speed everything up but I never play on LAN and I’m 100% a net player so I’d like the hit detection to be able to handle these things above all else.

You need to get a grip, He even states that this is his opinion on the game. Suggested changes. Giving criticism. You proved nothing in your post at all except that you disagree with him. Get back to playing pubs because this isn’t your strong suit.

The pro scene in Halo never wanted sprint or any of the stupid ■■■■ that came with halo reach everything after that game came from the casuals lmao

I haven’t posted on the forums in a good while and it is exactly because of the attitude that is being displayed by the regular users on here. A person who is sharing the general opinion of the people who play the game at the highest level and he is being attacked by some people who mostly play PvE. And he’s being attacked viciously.

Obviously to those people mostly playing PvE wanting a revert is a bad thing because nobody wants slow movement when you’re fighting an Elite Drone with a Claw. But at a competitive level it is much needed because the only viable playstyle at the moment (same goes for Ranked as well by the way, especially if you’re playing game modes with aim assist) is to wallbounce like a mad man.

And I know there will be one person who says “Well I got to Onyx in KOTH without wallbouncing so this pro doesn’t know what the community wants and is clueless”. I believe you can look at one of the regulars on here; @III_EnVii_III. I’m sure he’s not dropping 100+ eliminations in games without at least incorporating some wallbouncing (which I’ve heard is quite fast by the way).

Now Kenny’s not trying to say “Bring it back because I can’t adapt.” As I know some of the people on these forums don’t keep up with the Esports scene, Kenny and his team won the latest event on this new movement change. The person who won the event is wanting a revert on the movement change. Surely that has to say something.

Now the whole point of this movement change (or what was initially thought) was that strafing speed would be increased. Strafing in the recent Gears games isn’t as viable as it used to be in Gears 1/2, so this update would make it more viable to do that, thus providing players with another play style to use . The problem was with this movement speed increase is that everything else increased as well. This essentially negated the strafe speed increase and made wallbouncing and sliding around cover even more prevalent than they already were.

The reason why the pros are pushing for the revert is that now the movement speed is too fast to have a defensive play style so now everyone is pretty much forced to play the same way, which isn’t good. Imagine in a fighting game everyone used the exact same character at tournaments and online and played them the exact same way.It wouldn’t be very fun.

Now I know there are some people who say “Well fast Gears is fun to me”. That’s fine, but this update had robbed people who prefer slow Gears of having fun. I’m on the side of having slow Gears as that’s what I prefer.

I play this game pretty casually now so having slow or fast movement isn’t that big of an issue to me as I don’t really have much time to play as I’m busy with university . I was just trying to shed some more light on what Kenny’s point was trying to be. I know people like Ashes have said (I haven’t seen the clip) that people who don’t like the slow movement don’t know how to play this game. I don’t agree with that as at the end of the day it does come down to preference.

Finally, people do need to remember that OP did just come in here sharing his and others opinion. The attacking and general toxicity to his opinion just wasn’t right. At the end of the day, we all want Gears to be the best game it can be. Obviously some people will have different opinions on what is best for Gears, but surely we can discuss these civilly amongst ourselves?

EDIT: Just improved typos.

While I don’t mind the current movement update, I did much prefer the launch version
