A pro who wants to help things improve. Hear me out?(PVP thread)

Yeah you expanded after your little post about not understanding what sarcasm is. A blind master rank and you took it serious. Lol…

How am I having trouble understanding you? You said the new maps arent pro friendly and esc is terrible for the pros. Not really that complicated of a statement you made. If the pros dont like it then request to play another type of mode or gasp… stop playing it.

But your evidence is to go talk to them. That’s not evidence to strengthen your argument. That’s just making me go to do the work to prove you right or wrong. Not happening. Show your work or who cares.

Yes they’re pushing esports without a good videogame as a foundation, they’re working backwards and dont know what they’re doing.

You’re not looking to understand just fan the flames. No I didnt take you seriously you’re acting like a clown

They went after casuals and esports. Casuals to milk and esports to get them to play. They tried to cater a little to everyone instead of just making a solid game and standing by it. Then they catered to the base with some flashy skins and what not to get you to buy into some nostalgia or something.

They thought " hey we will make this game really easy for people and they will stick around because they think they are good". And then they left anyways and tc was standing there looking all confused. Meanwhile the base is up their butts saying you didnt need to do this.

Agreed 100%.

If there’s one thing that I’m comfortable enough to say that is the fact that TC definitely doesn’t know what they’re doing, or what direction to take this game in, and I think both our camps can agree with that.

Uh huh…

Show your work captain. I’ll let you know when I’m fanning any flames.

They have requested that and a bunch have stopped playing myself included. That doesnt solve anything when TC doesn’t agree or compromise. The proof is the state the game is in…it couldn’t be more clear for you, you’re just refusing to look to support this weird elitist forum bs. Gotta wait for you to mature I guess. Let’s meet back here for gow6

I would say that hit registration and quitters is the biggest complaints.

You assume alot of things here dude. Now I’m an elitist because I didnt bend over and just take your word for it that things are happening on the internet.

Why should they compromise? It’s their game. They dont have to do anything to please you , I, or esports.

Then there you go. They requested, was turned down and stopped playing. Good for them.

It couldnt be more clear for me? Ok…if you say so. That’s still not providing evidence to back up your claims.

You are just saying “look it’s out there man!” " why cant you see it?"

So if you quit playing how do you know how the movement is? How are you testing your opinion here?

Ultimately we are one end user community at the mercy of any changes that are made by a developer. The game developer will always have the final say, unless you are employed by the studio you wont be able to influence their decision.

I can understand that the movement speed has been increased to allow in TC’s eyes an opponenet a way of avoiding being shot at, this is how it was explained on the stream, I think that we have to accept this or move on to something else

There’s a million and one threads complaining about hit registration with the gnasher (aim assist on and off) post update.

If the game is still slightly slower than Gears 4 then the gnasher should at least be as consistent as G4 but it’s not. It’s just not working the way it should.

If the movement change is causing the issue with the gnasher that’s one thing but movement speed being increased isn’t the issue there.

Sticking to their guns would be to leave it how it was by design, how it was at the beginning.

Why can’t we just get kenny’s first two points of:

That would be a middle ground that we are yet to try.

My deal is like @Mazer_Vora said,

Aren’t Gears 2 and 3 very different? Isn’t one slow and one fast?

We are talking about viable playstyles here.

From everything I have ever seen, Gears 1/UE and Gears 3 are the two most beloved games in the franchise. How different are they?

No. They tried it that way for months and the player count keeps dropping, movement being one of the reasons people have fled for greener pastures (older Gears games or other games altogether). It’s time to try something else.

If you want my honest opinion when taking my tastes into consideration, I say no. I’ve actually advocated in the past to have the movement buffed even more that it has.

Problem with @Mazer_Vora’s comment is, again, they’ve tried it that way and it didn’t work for most of the community, so I don’t believe it when he sais that most of the fans like it that way. Maybe fans of the pro scene/eSports, sure, but not the majority of the community in general.

Personally, I prefer Gears3 over any other game in the franchise, so I would prefer a movement that is as close to that game as possible. Even buffed at tad more. But in the end, what I truly want, is TC to finally listen to the majority of the people and let the majority shape the game itself, rather than the few do so, or even worst, TC themselves do so.

EDIT: You know what would be great? If TC would just run a poll in all social media platforms and the forums to see where the majority stands, and work from there. Heck, it’d be even more awesome if they would run that poll in-game as well.

A cheeky tl/dr for those that cannot stand reading such a load of drivel. (Post 200 too!)

Gears 5 is still abysmal.

Being a ‘pro’ at Gears 5 is just about as worthless a pursuit as it gets.

Pro players have had zero influence on Gears. I think the only victory they’ve had was shortening escalation from 7 rounds to 5 as well as removing boomshots/dropshots from home hills. The Coalition flies them out to hear their feedback just to save face and look like they’re doing something. Time and time again, every single one of those feedback sessions, nothing changed and they were completely ignored. They continue to do whatever they want, and to be honest because of that, I think there’s this divide between both communities. We’re all pointing our fingers at each other thinking the other is to blame when the common theme is everyone is unhappy with TC and the way they’ve been running this franchise.

I mean, I don’t mind the new movement, I like playing defensive, and I can still play defensive to some success with the new movement. In fact, I’ve played a lot better in the last few weeks, I don’t know if that’s because its very similar to Gears 4, or if it’s something else.

However, I do think pros should have an input, after all, they do play the game at the highest level and play for multiple hours every day. They know the game better than 99.9% of people, including myself. But completely disregarding the casual audience is a mistake.

Alot of people complained about the movement at launch, and truthfully, I liked it. I never really minded the movement change from 4 to 5.

And its times like these that proves TC right about having split tunings in Gears 4.

Nobody wants to disregard the casual community. In fact if you talk to most pro players (don’t let the few entitled competitive players fool you) they embrace the casual side of the game and just want to have the same fun playing it.

As for you saying playing defensive works for you, it does for me too! In the common ranked match I can get away with playing under 20 sensitivity but as soon as I’m thrown in a scrim or tournament setting, it is impossible to play the game outside of nearing the highest sensitivity in the game and forcing myself into what would seem like unfavorable fights in any other gears of war game.

This isn’t because these players are that much better, or they are so good they can control the highest sensitivity. It is because playing for damage/positioning just isn’t a thing like it was in previous titles. The end goal should be to have everyone playing the game the way they want at the highest level. If I want to crack bounce, let me crack bounce. If I want to play slow and methodical and play to hit shots, let me be able to do that. Currently, you are forced to hold your shot and play the 50/50 game where you only play for 1 shots., and that combined with being a speed demon just isn’t gears.

It is also unfortunate the ranking system is a waste of time and doesn’t work, most of this would be easily recognizable if you didn’t have 6 game pass players in your lobby at all times.

That’s a good point, I’m playing against far worser players than these pros. I agree with Kenny, and whilst the Gears 4 movement was smooth, it was very extreme, and forced a aggressive playstyle. The movement that launched with Gears 5 supported a more defensive playstyle, but rewarded calculated aggressive plays.

And yes, the ranking system is completely broken. Ever since mid 2017 in Gears 4 I gave up on caring on my rank. It’s almost always wrong, and gives baffling results. Like when I won 7-4 in 2v2 Gnashers match with a positive k/d 2 days ago and I lost tier points. I just learn not to care and just try to enjoy the game.

Although I didn’t like the tuning with Gears 5 at launch, one of the things it did right was its movement, and like with killcams, sometimes listening to the community is a bad thing.

Thanks for your intel and oppinion on how you/the pro’s see certain things.
I play Gears since 06 so I have whitnessed it’s ups and downs through and through.
Here is what I think about your suggestions:
1: Keep slide speed since it is still not faster than Gears3 or Gears4 but revert speed boost
2:Keep strafing and roadie run speed increase YES
3:Almost instant shooting out of roadie might work or not in Gears 5… Difficult
4:no roll should be faster but shooting faster after side and maybe back roll might be good
5:Ok this is interesting… I see where this “nerf rifle” thinking comes from since coordinate rifle fire in a team can be devastating.
BUT you guys are a minority when it comes to the overall playerbase and “lone wolfs” like me need a VIABLE rifle and not a “pea shooter” to enjoy this game!
Gears 4 died for me and others when the Hammerburst was taken out, that is why in generell faster slide, roadie run and shooting speed after side roll would be an important COUNTER MEASURE to still VIABLE rifles.

Plz consider and thanks for reading :+1:
